Was just thinking the same thing Chook.

I keep seeing winds from the Nth so Kingfisher Bay for NYE then back up to Wathumba & Rooney's. Head home on the 3rd.

lol, well Chook our prediction of reliability is correct so far.

Latest Long Range Forecast for week between Xmas / New Year has ESE from 28th Dec & N, NNW Jan 2 & 3.

So if it stays like that, We'll probably head up to 1770, Pancake Creek & possibly Lady Musgrave.

Glad we're flexible & enjoy wherever we go.

Oh Wow..
If the predictions hold correct, that would be magnificent.
Light enough winds, all in the right directions for an easy trip north, then turning back from the north on 2nd Jan for the run back home.
Except, 'accuweather' is talking about thunderstorms Dec 30th.
I don't like thunderstorms while in the boat :-(
Here's hoping :-)
Cheers !
Graeme

OK...
Last day here at work for the year.. 3 weeks off.. Woo Hoo ! :-)
A bit of serious socializing to be done before sailing out of Tin Can bay on the 26th.

We hope to be heading north (obviously) with an ultimate goal of Lady Musgrave if conditions allow by 30th/31st... ish.
Along the way.. 27/28th Kingfisher, 28/29th Rooney. All VERY dependent on the winds etc.

Drop me an email if anyone wants to get together for a drink etc.
I will try to post here to update movements

Cheers !
Have a great Christmas.
AND Great sailing to you all.
Graeme

Hi all. Happy New Year.
In Late March/early April I will be sailing back to Townsville from Broken Bay. I will arrive in Moreton Bay in the first week of April or thereabouts if all goes to plan and was wondering if any members are intending to sail north from Moreton Bay on or around the same time.
An old work colleague of mine is also sailing to Townsville from Moreton Bay in April and we plan to go north together so a few other boats would be a nice bonus.
We have no timetable and will plan the trip from day to day depending on forecasts and desired stopover points.
If anyone is interested in joining us please say hello.

Hi Franick,

I'm planning to leave the Camden Haven sometime in March and I'm heading north also.
Will have to stop at Yamba for a few days to come out and do the antifouling etc.
Planning to be in Darwin or thereabouts sometime in November.

Hi NSW. I plan to leave Lake Macquarie sometime late in March and leave Moreton Bay in early/mid April.
I notice you are in a Top Hat. My friend who I will be sailing from Moreton Bay with also has a Top Hat.
Keep in touch,
Cheers, Rick.

That's a bit sad.. Losing the anchor.
I didn't even take my spare on this trip... They're too heavy to carry spares for everything.
Glad I took the spare alternator though... AND the spare fuel filter AND that extra bottle of Vodka :-)
A little 3min vid of our journey here :-

OK... so when do we go again ?
Cheers !

I'll be confined to day sails or weekends at best now for most of year. Our kids keep us very busy with a multitude of sports.

Hopefully there'll be a long weekend not far away I can dash over to Rooney's & back.

Glad you enjoyed the trip mate.

Ahh.. Yes, I remember the days of taxiing the kids around.
Now I'm a granddad.. Ha ha !

If you can get away occasionally, even a weekend Zap across the bay and back is nothing to be sneezed at, much better than mowing the grass and watching the cricket.

Geez.. I love sailing :-)

Great bit of movie Chookfoot,

What cameras and program did you use to assemble?

ChookFoot, I couldn't get your link to work but did manage to find it here: accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?passive=1209600&osid=1&continue=https://plus.google.com/111463086719248863183/posts/XTmfzxcDdRN?pid%3D6100708844514781170%26oid%3D111463086719248863183&followup=https://plus.google.com/111463086719248863183/posts/XTmfzxcDdRN?pid%3D6100708844514781170%26oid%3D111463086719248863183

Definitely worth watching; lovely little vid. I like the footage of the dolphin with nice light - kept willing you to stick the GoPro in the water again because it worked so well.

Oh, and Cisco - did you really refer to yourself in the 3rd person back there??? Here's what a triple gold Olympian cyclist thinks about that: "Chris Hoy thinks that the day Chris Hoy refers to Chris Hoy in the third person is the day that Chris Hoy disappears up his own a***."

Thanks DrRog for sorting out that link.
Nswsailor, I used a gopro 3 silver that I have had for a year or two.
I made a stick for it out of a galvanised steel tent pole.
I used AVS video editor, a very basic (cheap) editing program.
Glad you's enjoyed it.
We had a few encounters with dolphins on the trip, Yes, they play games with you.
If there was someone up at the bow, watching and/or photographing they stayed there for up to 5min.
If there was no-one watching them, they didn't hang around very long.
Cheers !
