Dropped out to the boat and painted out the fridge shelves and also the two battery compartments with some primer.
Out of primer other wise I would have kept doing more.
Ill order a few mast sheaves this week and a two pairs of T balls for the spreaders on both masts.
Ill probably make up a cooling system monitor and flow out of similar parts except the fans.
For it means I can just the temp on the go and well as warming up the yachts hot water system
Stated fixing Genoa track leak
Had to remove some headlining first with Dremel to access bolts
Drilled out 20 mm core to be epoxied when it dries out
Probably will use butyl mastic around bolts
10 down/only 23 to go!

Why? Is the core soft? I see you just want it solid for the bolts with no movement?

aswell a Nice RX 7 used to own one of those bad boyz plus a maxda 1000 ute with a rotary inside could smokem in every gear
young men aye
Why ? I don't understand? Is this to replace your fresh pressure water pump for your house consumption or to keep your main diesel cooler?
I decided to build a wheelhouse over the cockpit.
Now....i need to discover how im going to do it?
Anyone done this before

Its a fresh water cooling set up to cool the engine South Ace
The original Bukh pump using sea water will cool the fresh water coolant in the motor via a heat exchanger then continue as original out the engine exhaust system.
The electric pump will circulate the coolant in the engine replacing a belt driven water pump .
There is not thermostat in this system the electric pump gains a temp reading from a temp sensor and powers up the electric pump till it lowers the engine temp
The original sea water pump on the bukh will flow through the Diecon heat exchanger and out the exhaust as before
The electric pump will flow water through the blue section of the heat exchanger transferring the heat from the engine coolant to the sea water.
Doing this will increase the engine operating temp and also increase the temp if and when I fit a hot water system for the boat
sea water through this pump and through the heat exchanger and out the exhaust engine pipe
Where the hose goes to the engine block in the above photo this will be altered ,the above hose removed and a new hose will connect to the electric pump running coolant circulating through the engine and through the heat exchange reducing the temp from the coolant

I thought Southace or Morning Bird did some time back.
My Adams came with a tent like cover that attaches to the dodger and goes over the binimi. I leave it on about 90% of the time.
Love it southace....but how does it effect visibility?
Hg is what I can imagine i want ...if only he would share his secrets

Its not mine Chopse bro
A guy in South Africa makes them on computer cut out and flat pack them and send them on or he can build as well I guess windows included . The roof section is made in two panels to get the shape and thickness once you unpack you hold the roof panels down on a timber mould while you epoxy them roof together
Its the best shape Ive found in three years of searching the net on google
Walker H28 Niaomi has a nice one that was built by Crusty Sailors Dad years ago
H28 on the left below
found the roof profile photos below which is removed once the roof is glassed

I look forwards , out the sides and out the back I tuck the full sides up on nice days and some times coming into Marina berthing. It's fine in clear deep local waters. What do you exactly want?
Hi HG
I was hoping you were going to make one of these that you posted about a while ago
I reckon it looks great and very functional

Im not doing any tops Donk my list is long enough to complete jobs now with out any more distractions I want to raise sail and put some glasses on and have a sail this season .
Stove only needs a couple of fittings its a goa. same with the fresh water cooling. The masts fittings are waiting for wire and swagging .
Ill remove and inspect the chain plate bolts before the masts are erected. Ill do that this weekend as Ive lined up some one to hold the bolts on deck while I undo the nuts in the cabin.
I have every thing to assemble the mast heads ,Ill just run light cord in the halyard ropes through the masts and fit the halyards later. Ive hull sides to paint anti foul to apply. Ive a full few month ahead . Just hope work doesn't get to busy and cuts into my weekends like it has lately.
Originally I use Hemple light cream two pack on deck its no longer made so Ive been putting off a inevitable decision on what to do .
So today I bit the bullet and bought some perfection med white and primer so now I have to redo the deck at some stage I need to do the non slip any way I guess just hope the weather is in my favour over the next few months.
I think Ill take a weeks holiday around November and push hard. have every thing ready and put the masts up last.
Ive see a few problems with the Taylor stove Gimbal mounts including my old Taylor where as the brass pivot become loose and the stove pivots on the thread. So I'm slowly sorting out a fix for mine.
Mine were far worse than than one you can see the gap in the threaded section and how if the stove become loose in a rough sea it could be a very dangerous item bouncing inside the cabin
a song called I want to break free comes to mind Sands
So I am going to beef it up with some stainless angle inside the stove and weld a stainless bolt to the stainless angle iron
Both my side plates on the stove when I unpacked it were slightly bent this is where Ill rivet some stainless angle iron to the inside on the stove and then weld a threaded stud to the angle iron and fit my pivots to the stud
bored and threaded pivot below once its tight I might drill and fit a roll pin so it will never move (well I hope) the above bolt is not stainless just for temp fitting
once the stainless angle iron it fitted I will also drill a hole so the stoves hot plate can be secured to the stove as an added precaution. In the left of the photo above you can just make out a brass screw that along with 5 other screws holds the cast iron hot plate to the stove with brass lugs its a OK but Ill strengthen it as well.
I will probably get the hot plate enamelled in black next year if I have any spare boat dollars
The other item Im doing also is the fresh water cooling which is below
Fresh water cooling
I'm removing the thermostat housing and replacing it with a stainless fabricated housing so a 3/4 inch and a 3/8 hose bard plus a temp senors
Also fabricating a inlet where it fits into the engine block this will also have a 3/4 hose tail and a 3/8 hose tail fitted which will give me good coolant flow for the engine.
There is no thermostat fitted in this system instead the sensor operates as a switch for the pump to turn on and off to provide coolant flow through the motor it constantly reads the engine temp and turns the pump on till it I will probably fit two sensors as a precaution .
The original Bukh \ Johnston sea water pump mounted on the engine will provide the sea water part of the system pumping sea water through the diecon heat exchanger
Ill keep all the original cooling parts on board for a quick fitting if every needed . Just in case that china man shows up .
The pump is not a constant running pump it just runs when the temp setting is reached and reduces the temp and shuts off
Its suggested the pump will be good for 7000 hours set up this way.
Off to the boat after lunch and remove clean and replace all the chain plate bolts on deck and reseal . Been waiting for a volunteer to hold the bolts while I undo the nut below deck.
Hi HG
What is on the underside of the chain plates on yours as it looks like a completely different design to mine
On mine on either side there are 2 triangle shaped pieces fabricated out of flat bar where the vertical side of the triangle bolts up to a vertical bulkhead (one on either side of the bulkhead) and the horizontal side of the triangle sits under the deck and the 3 vertical tags that the rigging attaches to go through the deck and are sealed with cover plates on the outside
Regards Don

Dont have many photos of the chain plates area heres an old one ,basically there stainless straps mounted off each side on the main Bulk head much the same on the mizzen. You can just make one them out with the speaker zip tied to it on the port side
HG, when it comes time to use the Perfection don't forget to tarp up so no dew or moisture gets on the paint.
And you don't have to mix all the paint together at once (like it's supposed to be) you CAN portion it out.
Missus did it that way, very successfully. Good luck mate, you're doing great.

I was just reading your thread today actually on the deck paint Sam Sturdy . Ive the paint here ready to go just waiting for the right weather break . Ill prep some tomorrow
See if you can lay your hands on one of these HG. I found mine on the internet and it came all the way from China and took for ever and a day but it has been an absolute godsend for the application of preheat fuel to the Taylor You can squirt a very accurate jet into the burner and measure it out accurately as well.
Because metho is so expensive here in Fiji I have to use isopropyl alcohol which is also expensive, only less so, so it helps save those precious dollars.
The biggest bonus is being able to direct a jet into the aperture at the top of the burner without undue spillage. This is what turns most people off as spilled metho when it catches fire frightens folk. Whilst it is relatively benign it does scare people. I have had a couple of female friends who hate the stove for this reason. John Gardener at Taylor's confirmed that one of the biggest problems with the stove is women!

I have one I used it for topping up my water cooling PC but its got a new job now JAPIE
removed the deck section of my chain plates and will clean them and replace the through bolts and nuts and reseal them . While there off Ill prep and paint around the brackets
I always wondered what the electric motor did in my smev oven......final found the rusty bits and pieces today and cleaned them up and threw a pork rack on the spit! Yum
