We got suckered by the beautiful sailing conditions, and elected to head out to Breaksea and straight down off Fraser Island.
Currently enjoying a glorious sunset off Orchid Beach , drinks in hand, cheese and salami platter ....can we just stay out here??

All good now

Thanks Loose! I don't know how to fix that when uploading from a phone.
We finally got into Manly Harbor just on dark, 46 hours from Gladstone. We had light airs, some parts even under motor, but overall it was a great trip.
Moreton Bay, often referred to as light air place, turned it on for the last 20nm or so, running down to Green Island at 15knots in 30knots true.
We cancelled a holiday in Hervey Bay due to ordinary forecast, we'll head over to Tangalooma on Wednesday for a few days in lieu.

After spending a week or so around the Keppel Islands, we are heading up the Fitzroy River to Rockhampton - a stark contrast to most of what we have seen of Qld so far.
We have seen a couple of Crocs today - but too quick for the camera!

Careful with that one NowandZen. Not many boats that go up the Fitzroy ever come back out again. The town reach of the river is like a furnace in summer.

Was there a couple of weeks ago, the south bank in town has gone completely feral I wouldn't be going there at night.

We got about halfway to Rockhampton - as Parkers Passage and decided to stop for the night. Big mistake! We were EATEN ALIVE by thousands of midges, mozzies and sandflies.
Negotiating the sandbars of the Fitzroy was not too much of a problem, the Navionics was very accurate and we stuck to the outside of most of the bends anyhow.
After a sleepless night due to the bities, we decided to visit Rockhampton another day - perhaps.

3 nights in Gladstone Marina catching up with family. It's not the dump people say it is. We have stayed there twice now and seen very minimal coal dust land on the topsides.
$38 pn for a 42ft boat, great clean facilities and cheap to use the laundry. Courtesy bus a short ride into and back from town.

Last night in Pancake Creek, now on our way to Lady Musgrave for a few days - anyone else heading there at the moment?

With Seaka's refit finally finished took her north to Tacking Point and back yesterday.
As it was such a good day sailed out through the Camden Haven bar and the enjoyed the day.
Only had a few things go wrong, mainly forgetting on my part, but all were sorted out.
I must say that the new main sail worked a beaut, got at least an extra knot or two.
The old one was 46 years old and had been raced and up to the Whitsundays twice.

Blue Moon went with me as well.

Ill post photos Wednesday as I have poor internet here.

It doesn't come much better than a nice night sail on Moreton Bay. Couple of friends and a beer, wish I was there.

Hi Jode,
I'm solo tonight, just E of St Helena heading for Mooloolaba. Don't suppose we can talk you into coming out and playing?
Two boats heading iin the same direction is a race is it not?
Seriously though, it amazes me how empty Moreton Bay is at night. Its such a beautiful time to sail, yet nadah. AIS shows a veritable conveyor belt of shipping out of Port of Brisbane, and nothing else within cooee. Coffee in hand and munching on cheese and crackers, sea state is just a wee bit lumpy, 14knots T, close hauled, 7kn boat speed, next waypoint is off Tangalooma, and I'm grinnning like a cheshire cat.

If I didn't have commitments in the morning I could be tempted.
