Here are a few more shots. Casper Steinfath won the distance race at the Italia Surf Expo on the new Jav, while Leoanard Niko came third on the new SB. To complete the podium, Zane Schweitzer came second on the current year's SB. The fifth shot has Zane's current SB but in the background you can see Leonard's latest SB.
Thanks very much for the pics. There are some bold designs for 2016. Is the tail on the Jav as wide as it looks in the pic, or is it just the angle? Naish are certainly going with a planing nose design here: are they also producing a flat water-specific board?
Flat rocker and wide tail on a DW board? Will be fascinating to see how you avoid pearling. This maybe a new solution for DW design I think: usually as the rocker gets flatter the volume in the tail is reduced so it's easier to step back and lift the nose. But maybe there is more rocker than it looks, or maybe the nose does something funky to avoid pearling, hence the hard rails up front. I have no idea, but these pictures have certainly piqued my interest.
Great idea for Naish to produce (fairly) clearly demarked flatwater and ocean boards, like they did before the Jav/Glide distinction became more about cost than use. The key Naish distance boards (i.e. midweight, mid-price 14s) tend to sell out fast in Europe - or never make it here at all - so I'd better start hassling the distributors/retailers for an early demo.
Love it, Naish always like to keep you guessing right up until they release the range.
Have they completely redesigned the Jav again for 2016 or is that the brand new design for the "downwind" Jav?
Was it a distance ocean race? Maybe the new "downwind" Jav might have been a better choice for the conditions???
Interesting! Thanks for the info Area10. Maybe why it's tagged a Javelin Maliko instead of a Naish Maliko?? Name is confirmed on the Naish website after the Maui to Molokai race

Also a shot of Kody on one from FB
Trust me, it is one quick board
A bit weird to claim the name of one of world best DW runs and breeding ground and expect that no one else uses that name...
But the Naish looks stunning.
I reckon if you went back over the posts from 12 months ago you'd find the exact same postings regarding the Naish 2015 range.
There is without a doubt a flatwater board called the Javelin and an ocean board called a Javelin Maliko.
The Maliko version will make a great allrounder also ie./ fast enough in the flats to keep most happy.
I've heard that we might even see a recessed deck all the way to the tail on the new flat water specific board.. I'll believe that when I see it.. Only a few days to go now before we get all the info and pics.. Can't wait..
Here is a video of the Javelin Maliko- in french. I dont understand a thing but it looks nice

Very nice! I want one already.
14x26 and 14x24"? You'll need to have some serious skills to use a 24" wide flat-rockered board in the ocean in anything except downbreezing conditions. But it will be nice for the small but growing band of inland downwinding folk to have something for them.
And with the 14x24 we should be able to continue the age-old tradition of "aspirational purchasing" with Javs: buying a narrow Jav when feeling optimistic about one's skills, only for it to sit in the garage after we've struggled to stay on it few times, forever a monument to the gap between fantasy and reality.
I just hope the price is sensible.
Javelin Maliko 14x 24 and 14x26 honeycomb construction. Sounds interesting.
Lands it between the Javelin and the LE weight wise but stronger construcion than an LE.
Ain't they beautiful!

"My 2016 #sup quiver is complete:) Brand new to the shores of Australia the Naish 12'6 x 24 Javelin LE, 14' x 24 Javelin Maliko downwind board and 14' x 24 Jav Now to try and keep my feet firmly planted so they don't take off without me!"
what happened to the you don't need to go narrower than 26" in 2015 speech naish did? just a ploy to get people to feel like they have to change the board again in 2016 and sell more boards?
