Very interesting way to design a board line Dogman, basically emphasizing more the differences in one-foot-offs than general width, seems quite logical...
Hey guys been reading with interest.
My my Laguna Bay Hybrid fits in well with a more high performance surf shape. I find on clean hollow the wave the pulled in nose/tall are unreal but once its bumpy with water moving its too much like hard work on my smaller (JP Surf 8'2x28)compared to the Hybrid its so stable yet still surfs unreal.
mine is (8'2x 29 1/2)
I reckon this is a great two board quiver. Just ignore the short boards, that's whole other story.....
Hi jaydub
That orange board is my far the most hottest board on this planet.
You just Keep your eyes off my spray job...lol
Hi bender
Nice combo.
The small board n the step up board.
That JP has a heap of litre-age stuffed into the front n rear ends
giving it heaps more float.
Bases covered!!!
Nice grommet piccie
Hi Colas
usually to order a board i just
pick a nose,
pick a tail,
lay down some random combination of length n width dimensions
and then sit back and see what Tully comes up with.
Ride the board for a bit.
First bag the board a bit.
N then tell him how good the board went.
Best board eva...
Then a short time later, ill proceed to bag the board.
Then ill get a new one.
Then i will bitch n moan that the new one isn't as good as the old one.
Then all of a sudden, ill froth that the new board is now better...
The best board eva.
Then ill hate the board.
Then ill order a completely different shape and start rolling down that same path.
Over n over again....
He must hate me...
I just fell in love with that right Hybrid board. Its a pity that buying a board from Australia is just too expensive due the transport costs and taxes ,but if we ever going your direction I know already whats gonna be my souvenir.
I wouldn't touch one of his boards.
Until it's been given a good wash down with Dettol and hosed off.
We all know how doggies like to mark their territory. And this ones got a big tank.
Hi Ken
I'm pretty close to your dims (6" x 92kgs).
Bought a Dogman last year... 9'1" x 30" x 130l. Found it was like standing on a fit ball while waiting for a wave. But get it on a wave and it was amazing. Easily the best wave rider I've ever had.
The problem is that it is really only usable on a perfect glassy day. Otherwise I spend too much time falling off and struggling to paddle into the waves.
so I've now expanded the quiver to include a Tom Carroll Loose Leaf. One litre less volume but more distributed so easier tto stay upright. Enjoying it a lot at the moment.
keeping the Laguna for the perfect days and as a step up board for the future.
Edit: forgot the picture...
G'day Mahanumah,
I sounds like you have been on an almost identical journey to me. As I said above I've now added a JP Surf Pro to my quiver. It's 136 litres but a lot more volume in the nose and tail so gives much more stability in bumpy conditions. I would like try the Laguna Bay with the Standard or Hybrid nose and if I had known then what I know now (thanks to the Dogman above) I would have opted for one of those on my custom. You're spot on re: the performance of the Dogman model its sensational and I haven't given up on it yet. I'll do plenty of long paddles on it to develop a better more stable staggered stance and hopefully over time improve my comfort level.
Looks & sounds like a good choice Ken.
I hear they are definitely a fast & performing board.
Surf is up Thursday & Friday. Just hope the wind drops then.
Have fun!
Yeah Will, its great, back to the 2hr+ sessions again. Last couple of days have been pretty bumpy with a an easterly bump superimposed over a southerly swell and I still managed 2hr sessions.
