Hey mbuzz, that's the beauty of choice & opinions.... They're like arseholes, everyone has one

Stoked that there's more choice for punters like me who don't have the balance of a cat and aren't after a high performance longboard SUP.

It's interesting that Sunova are not the only ones who are listening to customers and providing a board in the middle - not for a kook but not for a pro.

This will be going on the options list once I've saved my pennies.

I'm surprised Sunova would sell out to commercialism & copy another brands board just because it sells so well & because a certain retailer knows it's such a great selling board...Anyway "Imitation is the greatest form of flattery" :)

Yeah, Laird should be flattered.

let's face it, if boards from different companies that were designed for a specific aspect of surfing looked completely different, then someone probably isn't paying attention. when an industry is young, product differences can be fairly large, but there is a good reason most cars and trucks on the road all look pretty much alike. mature industries yield products with slight differences only (given similar prices, of course).

Might just be my glasses, but I see three totally different surfboards, and there's more than just the plan shape that makes up a board design.

Hey @Casso another great review looks like a great board and worthy of consideration.

Appreciate the time it takes to put a review like this together.

pity about the party crasher with obvious self promotion intentions.....shame on you!

Not at all djansen, there's plenty of self promotion going on without my 2 cents worth but just for everyone's information I had this email from Jimmy Lewis today regarding the Striker which has been around a long time before anyone else's performance longboard & still remains one of the best sellers on the market today.....Just like ALL of Jimmy's shapes...NO Gimmicks, Just boards that work....
Hi Rob, My guess would be that we've had it for at least 10 years. It's one of the first boards I did. Back when I was still HAND shaping all the plugs. Aloha, Jimmy

Oh my god dude you still don't get it do you...

stop trying to piggy back on the good work of others!

read the F@&$king title of the thread Board Review

its because of numb nuts like you that people like @casso stop posting valuable information to the community. It takes a lot of time and effort to make a review and this community values these posts. What we don't like is flea like posts from poo like you trying to promote other brands. If the community was interested in the brand you are trying to promote then start another thread and open it up for the community to discuss

as a site sponsor your should know better!

no further comment as this brilliant review by Casso should be left as that

once again thanks casso for the review your opinion is highly valued by this community keep up the great work and we look forward to a video

Actually I reckon what we DONT need on here is personal insults, leave that stuff out.

Agree with you totally that's its great to see an obviously skilled surfer like Casso ride various boards, but these are only ever going to be - a) for the sponsored product, and b) overwhelmingly positive.

Self/sponsored brand promotion is rife in this place, and to call out only one bloke for it is a bit rich!

Thanks damo666, as you can see in my thread I'm not insulting anyone especially Casso....We've surfed together for years & it's a good review... My only point was that the Striker is a great selling board & Sunova had a request from a retailer to copy it...(right down to the sizes & dimensions)
As far as djansen comments go it just shows with his childish insults that he has his own agenda...I'm not piggy backing on anything, just commenting...which las time I checked was ok...Just like when I post or do reviews I expect that maybe not everyone will agree but not ONCE have I ever insulted anyone or carried on like an immature moron!

Quick visual comparison. Steeze keeps it's width running further towards the nose, has a more rounded nose, different tail shape, differentsidefinposition (further back), pluseasier on the eye than the fugly striker ; )

Yeah I have to agree with Mbuzz here and say that apart from
both being longboard style boards, they are nothing alike!! Pics don't lie.
But aside from that, even if it was like to JL design, who really cares?? If a design is proven to work and is copied by another guy, big deal!! And furthermore, if a guy saw a JL design/shape that he liked but didn't like the construction type, then went to Bert and said "Hey Bert, can you make this shape in your ultra cool and light construction with your convenient handle?" Then that guy is just smart in my book.

Nice surfing Casso. I've got a Blane Chambers 10-6 from ten years ago that still rips so....
Now Bert takes care of me and my custom low volume Surf longboard is amazing, not pimping, just saying.
And how's this Rasta Acid, 9-2x31.

Pics don't lie as Zeusman said , sorry but even if you put pictures of templates side to side there is a lot difference of shaping between each board looking quiet the same from picture...I mean that with same template but changing other parameter like rocker, volume distribution, bottom shape (vee, belly or concave shapes) and therefore rails: and fins position. with all those parameters mixed together it can be a completely different board however with the same template.
Hi Casso did you try the twinzer option on one of your boards like the Laird pin tail red one?

They aren't my boards Kami - I just got the pics off the internet.

I didn't try try a twinzer set up on the Steeze but I am running big side fins and a very small back fin in my Sunova Flow at the moment - love it.

A lot of conjecture here but I cant wait of you guys to actually see this board in the flesh. Its looking really cool with lots subtle 'Bert bits' going on. For anyone who knows Bert, he doesn't copy anyone let alone legends like Jimmy Lewis and Laird. We all get inspiration from many different sources and this style of board was clearly missing from our range. Thanks Casso for the detailed review. We love Seabreeze! The interest in the Steeze has been awesome!

Would love to Chucktheskiffie but we are flat out at the new factory getting Xmas orders ready for Santa. There are waves out front so now Bert can surf every day. He's going no where right now! Whilst he plays, we work on new Sunova toys for you to play on down there. Have fun. Best event ever!

Did that for a while with my flow. Loved it. But where I am the water is warm. And getting warmer. On a big angle I was sliding off. Wax and all. Even with tropical wax base. So I just completed this grip to complement the balsa.......

Getting ready to drop in on one of these. Interesting, bought a 6'6" Greedy Beaver last spring... take a look at the Firewire "Greedy Beaver" side by side comparison with the Steeze. Same templet, just now in SUP size!

Having a hard time deciding between the Speeed and the Steeze!

Purchasing site unseen, does anyone know or have actually seen the rails? Is the deck domed and rails stepped down similar to the Speed? Are the rails tucked under and have a nice edge progressively getting harder workin into the aft section?

Been riding a 9'2" Fanatic Allwave for years and sick of it's "corky" floatiness for lack of a better word. Especially in overhead +

Thank you for any input or guidance, cheers!

ya--the sunova finish, beautiful as it is (it's like a effing fine acoustic guitar), is a bit slick--putting hexatraction in frt of the pad on my creek 8'10---first few times i stepped way fwd to force a drop, i did a split! fortunately no injury--did it right in frt of a friend and he asked if i was OK!
