Updated. Minimal masks usage on flight to Bali. However they have doubled the heat scanning gear and process since Friday.
Salt water cures all

I live in Bali. It's business as usual but really quiet except for the usual amount of surfers. The few Chinese that are herd are all wearing masks but not many other people are except at the airport. A kiwi mate of mine was going out with a local Doctor until a week ago. He had all the goss on all things medical but she didn't have much to report so I'd say there's not much happening on that front in Bali. Personally I can't believe the hysteria going down in Oz, are these people for real? There's also plenty of other things here that are more deadly than Corona like Japanese encephalitis (not much) and Dengue and driving on a motorbike without a helmet. Come over, don't try and beat the Balos down on their prices cause they're starting to do it hard and have a great time. N.b. There's no shortage of toilet paper, bintangs and rice.

Totally agree Dave. Definitely not a time to take advantage of our Balo friends. As long as the Bintangs are still cold I'll be there again soon!

i don't belive Bali is even testing so hard to know how bad it is there?

Been to Bali three times over the last ten years.

Love it. It's the kind of place I could retire on.

But they do business differently over there so it doesn't surprise me if it seems lax right now. Low incomes for the many means that health risks can get overlooked in order to ensure the tourists keep coming.

Well. I booked a trip to Bali with the family starting at the end of the month but I'll have to cancel it. I'm trying to book new flights (Trukish Airlines is allowing a rebooking) and new dates for the hotel.

The situation in Portugal is pretty grim. All schools are closed for a month, almost everything is closed also and everybody is staying home. Thanks to a bunch of assholes that invaded a beach, all surf is now forbidden accross the contry to prevent people going to the beach (all beaches are also closed to public).

Stay safe everyone!

I'm still hopeful to go- but nz now has a 2 week self isolation period for any citizen who goes overseas. Bit of a ** situation. Emirates still calls it a safe place to go, so if we bail we get no insurance. if I go, there's no garantee that my work will pau me to work from home for 2 weeks on my return

Spain also now.

France seriously considered it also sunday night. Apparently the government was hugely upset to see the Parisians enjoying the sun together and ignoring all the "social distancing" recommendations, such in these kind of pics:
France may be going full lockdown in 2 days apparently.

Seems that the biggest risk in traveling now in being stuck is densely packed "petri dishes" that are herds of people unexpected stuck in airports, boats, stations... www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/03/15/chaos-dulles-airport-shows-how-not-handle-pandemic/

In Denpasar the schools are closed since today. All the canned food was empty in the bigger supermarkets.

Scary story about those closed beaches. Social interaction I can live without, but no surfing would drive me nuts..

Just got back from possibly my last session for a while. Unexpected calm wind this am. It might have been the impending doom, whatever, but I have been on a personal bonus of surf motivation.
8 surfs in 7 days. Yesterday unreal. The president of France comes on the tv tonight to announce a lockdown probably.
Good luck to all.

Well done that last session, sufinJ ;-)

Yesterday I just have a check at my home beach up North from your place, conditions were a bit too SE but the last strong seas dig some really good banks which sounds good when I will paddle out later...I hope

Salut Kami. Yea the sand banks are very shaped by all the swells we have had. Hopefully they hang for awhile.

It will hang on if there are no more stongs seas coming from NW. I will check it with son at our spot somewhere out of the main place ;-)

Borders are closing around Indonesia.

Some people I know were racing to the Airport on Nias Island today.

They had to hop off their boat charter this morning 5 days early as getting stuck in Northern Indonesia in this virus storm is a likely possibility.

Any fresh news out of Bali ?

In Bali now at Sanur with The LSR crew.... I read today that the Gili Islands were not accepting new tourists but the mainland is still pretty chill (very quiet). We have cut our trip short this time which is a real bugger, but things are changing way too quickly. Out on Fri....
