States have not completely filled their initial allocations so there will be vacant spots in some races. They are finalising their allocations in the next day. For the moment, for details on particular vacancies contact your State body.

I'm guessing that if there were any spare allocations to the surfing, then it would be done as a fair distribution to States other than QLD and NSW? It would be a shame to see that the numbers are weighted towards those States.

Usually the home state gets most of the 'extra' spots - in this case QLD.

I think NSW has used all it's quota in the surfing - plenty left in the Marathon.

Hi Piros

the surfing has a three-day window - Thursday 7th–Saturday 9th - so a decision won't be made until closer to the event on which days and times etc to make the most of the conditions.

The BOP races will also be held during this window.

I've taken them in both checked in and hand luggage (when I was only checking in a paddle) and never had any trouble. Been more than 12 months since I flew with one, so best to check with the airline, but you should be fine. I think there's usually a special clause re. inflatable pdf's exempting them from the dangerous goods classification for other gas cylinders.

From past job experience inflatable pfds arnt seen as a DG banned from flying with. probably don't wear it while boarding though. pilot might think your having a dig at him about your confidence in his ability to keep it in the air brother used to be issued one mandatory to wear in the chopper when flying to the offshore rigs.. ( said the thought "why we need these" tightened the cheeks every time)
I'd check with the airline still as it's been awhile since I used to load planes as a teenager

Yeah I'd be explaining to the nazi airport security knob that the plane already has 200 of them under the seats.

The website (australiansuptitles.com/) looks awesome and stoked to see the live scores feature.

Looks like the surf is going to be absolutely tiny and onshore out the Alley for the whole window. Better get the permits organised for D'Bah Surfing Australia!

I would say there is a 70% chance of north winds which will make the racing fun but hard and suck for the surfing. If its from the south the tje waves might be fun but I would say pretty small. My tip would be for those here early to get a few dw paddles in tomorrow and sunday and try and work out the bumps. If any one is coming up early and wants to do some dw paddles come and see us at the shop and we will gee ut all up.

Here's a nice scenario , when you actually qualify for the Aussies you have to supply a copy of your Australian passport to prove you are a citizen with your entry , so what's happened through a wild card the next guy down got in but when he went to enter he did not have an Australian passport he was a resident but didn't hold an Australian passport.... so he can't enter the Aussie's but he has progressed through the state titles bumping out legitimate contenders.

What needs to happen is you need to supply your passport to enter in your state titles but that's not a requirement at state level . Please explain Surfing Australia.

Casso no one needed a crystal ball to know the surf report for this time of year at the alley its pretty predictable.

chin up guys. we've been getting heaps of really good south dw ers in. while it looks like northern winds you never know this time of year- things change fast.

its a shame the australian titles can't utilise 'the best' of northerly conditions like the kingscliff to hastings run which is just over the border if the winds are north. it's a rated dw run by many a good paddler.

casso best bet is the spit or southside of tweed river/dbar(pumping jetty)
