First big international race of the year happening this weekend.
Who is going to get the win?
Huge field men and women though some notable big names missing this year.

Women: I tip annabel in the to take the win. Fiona to come in 2nd.

Men: Travis win, T2 2nd, Connor 3rd. Next 20 spots anyone could claim seriously mens side is stacked so big at every international event now making top 20 is a feat being proud of.

Looks like a cool event. A tough course but offers many elements which is exciting for the paddlers.

Sup racer looks like he will have his play by play feed happening to make us all feel like we are there.

It's great to see Surftech sponsoring this race. But which athletes do they sponsor? You'd have thought that if you were sponsoring a race you'd want a strong showing at it.

1st - T2
2nd - travis - aussie
3rd - danny
4th Trev - aussie
5th kelly - aussie
..
..
10th - matty nottage - aussie
14th - beau - aussie

HUGE results here. T2 wins by 10 seconds maybe??
Solid result by travis but
Young Trev Tunnington wow 4th is huge mate!
Kelly the oldest of the top 20 elite. This guy isn't slowing down any day soon.
Big result for matty and beau considering neither are well known for flat water grinds.

annabel huge lead for the win in womens.

Been waiting to see what Brian's been working on. Annabel's board sure looks a lot like my 2014 All Star. A retro throwback to the last Syzmanski Starboard? A one off for Annabel or a preview of what's to come?

Agree huge! Although nsp would be expecting huge results with 2 of the in form best paddlers in the world at the moment.

Kai lenny seems to have to many other commitments to train for these events doubt we will see him feature much at all anymore in SUP racing besides BOP that he is legendary at and M2O that he so badly wants to tick off as champion.
Only big name I saw that naish had there was kody.

They have even lost manc notar their super star young female athlete to starboard this year.
Getting off topic but naish need to land a huge superstar elite paddler besides kai I feel.
Starboard has the monopoly at the moment of young gun talent. I wonder why this is??

I guess I forgot that NSP and Surftech are now hand-in-hand. Since NSP got one and two in the men, I guess Surftech hit a home run with this event.

8 different board brands represented in the top 10 of the women's elite graveyard race, and 7 different brands in the men's race. It's great to see such brand and design diversity at the top. It's actually quite surprising too, maybe.

Does anyone know which boards the Starboard and SIC riders were using for this race?

I watched the live feed on supracer fb and all starboards looked to be the 2016 all star. Didn't see an ace. I actually wonder if matty nottage or beau had access to an ace would of they used one as they absolutely fly in all conditions on them.

Sic looked to be the new FX.

Is amazing isn't it all different shapes and designs and all work in all those conditions.

The SIC boards looked like the flatwater board and both George and kenny looked to be riding them, all the starboards were either Allstars or sprints unless its windy there the ace would suck up the inside flatwater part.

I couldn't make out a sprint all looked on a flat deck.
Think chris mentioned in the feed to about he thought all were on all stars.

Yeah i reckon it was that custom fx too

7 different manufacturers all different boards all work.

What are the specs of the NSP toothpicks that T2 and TG were on? Pretty convincing result for NSP.

They were on the the production 14/23 NSP that Travis used since May 2015 when he did the Euro tour in Mallorca and Ste Maxime, and then at the Gorge in Oregon and PPG long distance
It has been available for Anyone to order since end of 2015

I'm not sure what you mean by a 2017 All Star, but Larry Cain's FB blog seemed to indicate - as far as I understand it - that he'd be racing on a current model All Star 14x25 - the same one he reviewed on SUP Racer. Here's a picture of some of the Starboards - there seems to be more than one model in this pic.

I'm not expert enough at identifying Starboards to tell which models these are.

Front to back: A 2014 All Star, 3 2016 All Stars, Another 2 2014s (although one is hidden) plus Annabel's camo pink 2014 All Star like Brian Syzmanski. Now will it show up as a production LK?

Annabel looking double happy after smashing the field with her new pink board.

There was another shot of the pink-camo board on Bria Szymanskis insta

.
Doenst look very appealing to me shape-wise, very square tail and very flatwater style , almost retro?, nose.
But Annabel could probably paddle just about any board

It is pretty simple, you take a 2017 prototype and you paint it like a 2016 production board.
And not everyone has it of course, only the ones that could be in contention to win for the brand.
In 3 or 4 months you will then start to see the same board with the new 2017 graphics....

Well, Larry has shown pictures on his blog of him unwrapping a board that looks awfully like a 2016, and he has reviewed this same board as a 2016, and he said he'd be using it in the Carolina cup. So are you saying that he's been reviewing the 2016 board but then was given a different board made to look like that one for this race? I assume that you have information that we don't - ?

But while we are on this issue, why in the picture I showed are there people using, apparently, the 2014 All Star rather than the 2015 one? Is it because the 2014 was faster, or are they also some kind of custom board painted as a 2014 that have been kept around for this race? I'm baffled... It would be great if there was some kind of homologation rule for the elite racers, to ensure that what they race is what the public can buy. It's all the more to NSP's credit that the top two in this race were on the same boards that the public can buy. Impressive.

They are probably on the 2014 boards cause not everyone can afford to shell out $3000+ each year to get a new board. Does everyone think that the new board each year is actually that much faster. Really! I doubt it. Every year manufactures make the comment in there promotional adds that their boards are faster and easier to ride be it a sup or a sailboard or kiteboarding
As some comment that several people have made, that the top riders would be able to make a table top go fast
Just my thoughts
