There are 5 boards around the 9' size range from the Lithium at 8'11 to the Performer at 9'6. How many litres do you like in your boards? What style of surfing do you like?

I notice in previous posts there has been interest shown in the Coreban boards but the previous distributor wasn't helpful. Coreban have a new owner and Jappy is their distributor for Tassie now.

Coreban have also recently reduced their pricing and it is now about the mark of other Brands like Naish. On some boards Coreban prices are better than their competitors. Comparing like with like.

thanks for the reply was a serious question , only ever seen a couple of coreban boards in the flesh and really don't hear much about them when compared to the other brands .probably the reactor or lithium would be the boards I would be looking at , which I guess would compare to boards like the Jimmy Lewis Kwad or the Naish mana

Looks like Jules has 2 spare brand new 12'6" race boards available for use in the race, put up your hand now, Jappy reckon these boards are so fast that your nanna could win the race if she was on one these
These people put there money and time to get demo boards down here and we don't get a lot so lets make the most of it when someone does and get on these boards to see if they are as good as what they say, you will never never know unless you have a go

There going to have to be fast to catch me.

I'll give you a good run for you money on the new secret weapon, surfing tas could be a dark horse if his new board turns up in one piece and sea hippy will be on his old naish 11', don't know of anyone else thats put their hand up yet.

What's the deal with leg ropes? If they have to be used, do you have to have the leg rope on before you start moving on the board, or can you just put it on any old time after you have started?

If you are a novice entering the novice race, do you have to be a member of surfing tas to enter?

Hi,
Leg ropes on as enter water. Leg ropes must be on by the time you first stand on the board. No more than five strokes may be taken in any other position than standing. I'll be posting the Surfing Australia BOP rules. On the surfing Tas website soon. There will also be a fairly comprehensive briefing before the race. Novice racers do not have to be a member of Surfing Tasmania. I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Ben

Sounds like your thinking of entering the novice division where you belong crusin instead of wasting your time going up against top paddlers in the 4k

Might try for the trifecta.

Question:
What do the race courses look like, where do they start and finish?

Just to clarify the entry fees

The 1.5 & 0.5 km races are free

The Naish Distance Paddle Race is $10 with all monies donated to Big Blue Paddle charity

The 4km bop is $15 entry fee + you will need to be a Member of Surfing Tasmania to enter this race $44 so total $59 going to surfing tasmania.

Local sup legends no.1 & no.2 were spotted on the carlton river test course this morning putting a couple of brand new very fast 12'6" race boards through their paces, these 2 will be pushing hard to bring home the new 14' prize to their club Park Beach Boardriders.

PARKING AT KINGSTON BEACH

The roads around the beach front will be closed off during the morning. It is recommended you arrive before 9:30 to offload gear. Parking will be available in Victoria Street before 9:30. Victoria Street runs off the Esplanade back to Browns River.

It might be fast RR but it looks like it would qualify for the biggest cup coaster ever made...and the shoddy job of the deck pad.

The long term weather forecast is for light winds. Hope everyone is excited and has lots of fun on the day.

Remember - it's about participation and having fun, not about winning.

How many boards will be available for the novice people to use?
Would it be advantageous for novice people whom know someone with a board to borrow that one?

I will have a 5 boards that I'm using for the 'try SUP' part of the day that could be used. Perhaps bring a board or two for yourself and one for a friend.

I've still got a 12'6 Coreban Vision unassigned for the 4km race and a 12'6 Bic Wing available for all races. I'd like someone who is an experienced paddler to use the Coreban. A less experienced person can use the Wing.

Street SUP have just said they will supply a board and stick as a prize too. There's some really cool prizes for Regatta. Barz Optics are supplying some Floating spec's too.

Be in it to have a chance of scoring a pair or the street SUP package worth about $430.00

Thank you to Mat, Dave, Dave and Izzy for helping out today at the Coreban Battle of the Paddle. Mat took home 1st prize and if we had a 50+ division Dave would've taken out that class.

Thanks again for all your hard work setting up and packing up and for supporting local flat water SUP racing.

Looks like our boys made a clean sweep this time round, Matty Golding taking the battle of the paddle out and taking home a new 14' coreban for his troubles, with Ben Stockwin coming in 2nd and Dave Smith taking out the 50+ age group.
In the bay to bay race that followed Matty Golding had another win in the 12'6" + class with Mick Hawes coming in 2nd and Dave Smith taking the win in the 12'6" and under class, great job guys
