Hi guys and girls
This Wednesday we want to try and run the 1st race of the series.
Time:meet 5pm for a 5:30 start
location:Winders park by the rusty pelicans
Race: All the same as last try, short course 4km long course 8km
Classes: surfboard class and 12'6 can do short course
12'6 and 14ft can do long course
if there is enough people for a unlimited class we will put it in.
Please if you can reregister earlier that would be great as it will help us get on the water earlier!!!
Any question please feel free to contact me any way you like
Cheers Jacko
You should run Unlimited, no matter what. Even if there is only 1 or 2 paddlers. Absolutely no point excluding those who prefer to paddle the Unlimited Boards.
If you can, get accurate recordings on distance, boards, and times.
(hey, I'm in the wrong state, and won't be there... but the above comment stands!)
Hi Simondo, I can see where you're comin from in not wanting to exclude anyone, and I know in jacko's previous post before the race was cancelled last week that any boards (and in fact any craft) were welcome to paddle, just not in an official class. However if Roar are being generous enough to run these races for free and donate some prizes too, it's only fair to offer them for the majority of the participants.
The situation on Currumbin Creek up here at the moment has 10-20 paddlers turning up at training at 4:30am every day of the week in a few different groups, with probably 40-50 people in total training at least once a week. It's probably about a 50/50 split between 12'6" and 14' boards in these training sessions, with very few people using unlimited boards, so you have to cater for what's working in the local area.
The majority (but not all) of paddlers up here who paddle on unlimited boards in the ocean also have a smaller race board too and Jacko has offered a couple of his extra demo boards for people to borrow if needed, so everyone is pretty much catered for.
I'm sure if the interest grows they'd be more than happy to add in an unlimited division in the future.
Looking forward to seeing everyone there tomorrow afternoon for some fun.
OK it's on!!! Rain, hail or what ever get throwen at us!!!
As with the last race we were going to hold you can paddle anything you like but the main classes are 14ft, 12'6, and surfboard sup!!
Storm passed over and a good little turn out had a fun race!!!! There was about 30 paddlers and the racing in the 12'6 8 km was super hard and a very close 3 way battle between Troy pease, Mick Debetta and Noel Graham with it finishing Troy 1st mick 2nd and Noel 3rd. Full list of place getters and times will be posted later tonight or tomorrow morrining. Thanks to all who turned up and stay tuned for the next race day!!!!!
Jacko

Well done to everyone who paddled, from those battling it out at the front to those new to sup/racing who set personal best times over the course, or paddled 8km+ for the first time.
Was a great turnout especially considering the storm that hit just before the race started. Also good to see a few others who couldn't make it there after work in time for the race start, still turn up to support the race and watch the finish.
A big thanks to Paul & Angie for organising the race and Sandra for recording all the times. Fingers crossed that i'll be able to leave work in time for the next one.
Thanks to all that came along and raced the 1st of many social races on the Goldie.
Big thanks to Sandra for Time & Name recording everyone.
I have got the results and i will post shortly. I will try to get everyone and what boards they were riding aswell.

Thanks Angie & Jacko for organising and Jacko's Mum & Dad for helping out.
All my family came and had a good time. It was an experience for me being the first ever race - and it certainly showed. I knew I was in trouble when most of the guys took their shirts off before the start. I quickly put mine back on
I'm motivated now to do a bit more training and see if I can get my time down.
Also thanks for the T Shirt for me & Dan. They are cool shirts.
Cheers
3rd Noel Graham 57.45min - Fanatic
Go Noel........ bloody good effort.
Might have to dusk off the 12-6 for the Labrador race Jacko.
Crabs? i mentioned no crabs but being on the tourist strip one cannot be to sure..
Sure the girls paddle hard for their class but you dont see the men carrying muffin top weight belts..drop the carbs lol
