Hi all,
Here is a link to some of the action that has taken place already over there.
So far Jacko finished 5th in the 2km Sprint and Jasleigh 2nd. Jacko is in Blue/white stripe boardies and Jazz is on far side at the start.
Also check out how fast Eluko Kalma takes off at the start.
The 10km race is on today.
Some extremely fast boards and good male paddlers in the open mens.
I will try and post some photos and more results when i get some.
Thanks AP.. The girls looks good but then I was looking at the 14' Glide.. Mmmmm Nice..
Starboard sure did give Naish a good arse-kicking in the mens.. But then he was on a girlie flat water boat-board.....Just kidding..
Jeez.. how fast was Eluko.. It must be that Kalama blood.. Hey.. Where was Dave.. he sould have been there..
I can see an event like that on the Yarra..
DJ
Yeh, how fast does he take off, jacko is right behind him at the start and tried hard to stay with him but his board is so fast.
Jazz started really well but had trouble kick turning the 14ft board around every 500m. If only we knew they had to practise kick turning race boards around.
The 10km race has been changed from the 500m circuit and will now to run in a straight line.
Here is the website for more pics etc.. But you will have to translate page.

Yeh they did give naish a arse kick but the 14ft glide is designed for ocean, not flat. Those starboards are designed for flat water speed and that certainly is what they did.

No ocean race, only flat. Comp is all over now.
Check out the lastest video at the top

You can see the action there.

ps, jacko is spewin he has missed all this swell to by the way LOL
hey all
what a huge event crowd numbers were massive! will do a full review on the event when we get home.
there is definatly a massive difference in flatwater and ocean racing boards and to be competitive in flatwater you will definately need a purpose built flatwater board, 14' glide will fly in the open ocean but in the flat water she just pushes too much water.
crowd would have been around about 25, 000 and definatly set a new level for sup contests!
Jacko
Hi Angie,
Thanks for posting the vid, what an eye opener to say the least.
It was fantastic to see the Aussies place well.
Kalama is just a machine, who shaped his board does anyone know?
Was there much tidal influence in the river?
I was surprised to see the pylon style race is that normal?
Phill
Wow!! Congrats Jacko! Congrats Jasleigh! What a great effort, you should be proud of yourselves.
Looking forward to hearing all about it!
Looks like a great event. and great to see our man John Hibbard come third.Well done John in fact well done everyone involved,i see this type of thing really taking off.
Drinking German beer just makes me fart all night, cause it's all natural, is that Jeever any different - can't say I've ever seen it here in Australia. Did you get it for free and drink lots of it when you were there Jacko?
I really enjoyed Hamburg. Did you head down to the Reeperbahn? What a blast that place is.
I guess Jacko will be able to give a better feedback than me on that board, I just had a short go on it and it feels pretty good, easy and fast.
I'm uploading pics of the boards that has been used during the comp, I'll post it asap
Thanks for posting those pics Eric.
Jacko and Jazz are on their long haul flight back now.
I'm sure they will some more pics too.

Hey Angie
it looks like German Beer Has the same Effect on Jacko as it dose on Oliver.
He has cracked a smile from all that wind.
