Nice surfin Casso and Great vid Chappo
I have been loving my 10'5" pig at the moment. I have been using a 6.5" single fin only and it is so much fun in any conditions. Made me realise why I got into SUP in the first place. To enjoy a surf when it is unsurfable on a shortboard. It's even fun mucking around in the whitewater once it has broken.
Yep - never had so much fun on a wave without doing a single turn.
Hey guys,
I love old school nose riding. There is no substitute for hang time on the nose. The board I'm riding is 10' x 28" x 3-3/4" x 105 liters. It has a step-deck nose and tail to optimize flex. When I bottom turn the tail bends up increasing rocker for a faster turn. On the nose it flexes down to improve nose riding. The board has such thin rails it slices through the water like a hot knife through butter!
Cheers,
Dave
Nice Dave! I know the board well, since mr big "crocks" a Kings
Great looking board... I love the thinness you shaped in. I paddled his but it is so low volume, that I won't get a surf demo till we're out of heavy wetsuits.
Here's a "flashback" longboard moment I had on Monday
Here are a couple of photos showing my 10' x 28" x 3-3/4" x 105 Liter "Croc." Step-deck like a Yater Spoon, Hanson Master etc... The tail is nice and flexi... The little kick in the nose lets me turn the board while getting ten or a nice cheater five. I have four of these boards; each having a different weigh and tail rocker. My favorive board has 4-1/2" of tail rocker and weighs a hefty 13 lbs. with wax...
Best Viewing to you all,
Dave
Hi Guys,
Don't have a live video at the moment. Here is a video sequence for some still photos:

Nice one Dave. Stylin'. Love the "waving to the camera while perched on the nose" move.
Is that in a comp (looked like another rider had the same comp rashie on)? If so, are you running a 10'+ division or is it just open to all sizes?

Hi Casso,
The photos came from an Pro/Am SUP surfing event in Northern California. The waves were 1ft at best. Half the competitors were on pointed nose style boards and half were on 9ft long performance style nose riders. Some of the guys were on Simmons style boards. I was the only person to ride a 10ft board in the event. As fate would have it, I won every heat and the overall event. Each wave I rode had 100+ people on the shore (including the judges) standing during each wave and giving loud applause. Yes, noseriding is alive and appreciated by spectators etc... And by the way, I love riding Simmons, pointed nose, and any other type of SUP board. Love it all!
Best,
Dave

That's awesome. Congratulations.
Can you buy these boards in Australia - looks pretty good to me (reminds me of my mal that is gathering dust)? If not, is there a "similar" board that you can buy?
