72 days...but who's counting?
Probably only the people who have been counting down the last 293 days...er...
Looks awesome!
apart from surfing, what other SUP divisions are there? eg: BOP etc?
Cant find a website, so any info would be awesome. thanks
Going?
Couldn't wait and did a recon trip in first week of August.
Brilliant and can't wait to get back.
Not for me this year. Sorry Mr Smythe. I'll be in WA at King of the Cut again. This is the best event in the World.
I thought of you on Sunday DJ as we paddled out for Midgets farewell. All those years he attended Merimbula.
Starby &/or Naish bringing their foil armada would be extra interesting. Go foil Australia distributor ?
Lots of kite / surf & paddle board athletes with solid water abilities, there could be some interesting viewing.
Yeah I'll be there with the Surf FX crew with the foil lolly shop for kites and Sup
You're gonna need a bigger board...
Looking forward to going to my first Merimbula Classic :)
I'm looking forward to seeing them..

Newywaterman - Merimbula Sailboard Club is the website from memory.
"Merimbula" or "Mambo" as you'll hear the long term attendees call it, is like no other contest in the World. It started off as a a windsurfing contest where things used to get pretty loose. It's a lot more family friendly now and Kiters and SUPs now attend also.
There are no heats with the surf contest. In fact you don't even know who the judges are unless you've been there for at least 10 years. The idea is fun without winging so everyone just paddles at the various breaks around. Those in the know even sneak off to secret spots.
The racing component is fun with a twist on the normal BOP and there's always a fun downwinder or two.
Unfortunately for many of us, "Downwind Week" in WA now clashes with Merimbula so there's a few who can't get down South anymore.
If you've never been before you've got to make the effort as it's the best weekend on the SUP calendar all year.
Yeah I'll be there with the Surf FX crew with the foil lolly shop for kites and Sup
New beer tent sponsor this year?

Is this what SUPing does to you........................I can't be trying hard enough then!
Looking forward to this year again, one of the best events in Austraila. An event with fun in mind and definitely no whinging makes the Merimbula Classic the one event not to miss every year. I'll see you all there with the 1SUP1 crew, Deep Ocean Boards and KeNalu, looking forward to another awesome event.
