Just a heads up to anyone that is not yet aware of this event.
Next weekend BOP racing will be coming to Sydney. While smaller BOP races have been held at club level this is the first fully organised specific BOP event.
The day is aimed at raising awareness of MS and to raise funds for MS research.
Sydney's SUP retailers as well as the SUP industry as a whole have really got behind this event. Sydney's top paddlers have already registered and there is now a possibility that some of the top Qld's are coming down as well. Another well known OS competitor has also confirmed.
Collaroy is the perfect venue for this type of event and the sand banks there at present are perfect for BOP. There is a great viewing area on the cliff and the industry will be there displaying their gear.
This event is not only for the competitive racer however. Naish have organised inflatables for the day so come down and race your mates on one of their boards.
There's also going to be an after party so it's going to be a fantastic day.
Event organisation is always easier when people pre register, particularly when organising BOP heats. So jump on line and come and join us for what is going to be an unreal fun day of racing.
Who's coming ???
Yes Jonny i paid my rego the other day.. Was not game enough to do the Elite but I am in the Marsters inflatable !!!! Even if I only get through 1 heat the entry fee is going to a good cause!!!!!
There will be a big SPSC contingent there. I'm rego'ed for the Masters and will be filming the Elite - get your "blue steel" on boys.
Hey guys, looks like a fun and really worthwhile event to support. DTM and I were crazy enough to agree to entering a 100km Mtn bike race with our mates, that's on this weekend, otherwise would be there with bells on.
Good luck with it, be great to see more BOP events in Sydney.
I am registered, super keen too. Looks like it will be a fun day. Forecast is looking promising but that is all I am saying, as huey seems to enjoy keeping us guessing when it is looking really good.
It's going to be great to watch the elite category if the swellnet forecast is on the money!
Saturday 16th March
Peak in E/NE groundswell to 6ft to occasionally 8ft at open beaches early, smaller later. Smaller at south facing locations. Moderate SW winds, tending variable during the a'noon.
Jake, beau , peasy and me are definitely coming down with Dorries family pretty close to coming and maybe a few others as well. Should be a fun one.
The Big day is less then a week away.
Forecast is looking good for an action packed day.
Prize Money of $2500 is up for grabs for the elite division.
Last chance to signup and save.
otherwise you can do it on the day with cash only.
Can't wait, see you all there!
Remember there are soft boards if you don't want to risk your own or don't have a 12 footer.
Also go on line to donate to the Sam Parker dress up tally. If we raise $300 Sam will race in a dress. $500 and he will do 2 races - each in a different dress.
You'll find it on the MS paddle web site.
On line entries apparantly are closing tonight. I believe it is more on the day.
Don't forget only $10 out of every entrant goes to insurance the rest goes to MS and the Vodafone Foundation will match up to $10K!
Just organized to send a few little artworks x3 up there for a silent auction, so please get behind the cause and spend up big on these items, or else..
As mentioned above, there is divisions for everyone.
Sure the elite will be a great spectacle, but if your new to racing there will be other divisions for you.
There will also be an inflatable division.
All money raised will go to charity and VODAFONE are matching the money raised.
It should be great day so come on down and help us enjoy the day.
Forecast is looking solid!!!! How big would be too big causing it to be mooved??? It would be a shame to have to go to the lake!!!
Just an Update.
The REDBULL girls and REDBULL event vehicle DJ will be on site from 2pm onwards.
Regardless of whether your paddling (which you all should be) the atmosphere and action should be awesome.
Come down enjoy the day and help support a great charity.
Stay posted for the conditions too.
