AndyR can you Google Earth where to meet + the start + the 3 finishes lines. Thanks
I'll find out today if I'm working, if I'm not I'd love to give LOW PRESSURE a run in the Brisbane Harbour Conditions..
It's an 110 minute drive to the airport from Burleigh, so how long would it take to get to port of Brisbane boat ramp. (need directions)
I have the maps handy, so may save Andy some time. The drive is 10 mins less than to Brisbane airport. Take Port of Brisbane exit and drive to Fishermans island boat ramp. U cannot turn right into it, so you have to go past the ramp do a u turn where u can and drive back to the ramp, u have to cross the train line to go in.
the 3 start points are Wellington Point, Cleveland and Victoria point for the runs. If you leave from Cleveland it is Cleveland Point near lighthouse, and Victoria Point is at the VMR boat ramp. Runs are approx (depends on how wide you go) 12km Wello, 18km Cleveland and 25km Vic Point....just for future reference, Andy has no images of the Southside.....we take them off him when he leaves.

After I take the Port of Brisbane Exit = (is that a sign Green HWY Board?) then what is the street name to Fishermans Island boat ramp for my car GPS as Google Earth has NO idea.
Or I'll be ringing Andy every 5 minutes asking where the f##k am I.
When in Brisbane I've only ever driven to the International Airport or to the Cleveland ferry to get to North Straddie
nickmcd14 can you google a map on where we are paddling something like this kind of google map, snapper to Alley run.
sorry for the headache
exit is m4 to Port of Brisbane mate. last exit before the bridge.
The best to put into google is Port Of Brisbane, or Port of Brisbane Boat ramp. See images below mate
So images above are in order:
M4 exit
Cleveland Run
Boat Ramp
Boat Ramp
Victoria Point run
Wellington Point run.
The boat ramp entry is tricky, you have to drive past it and do a u turn and then enter back into it. You have to drive over the bridges and come back to enter.
Cleveland is just the Cleveland Point Lighthouse Park
Victoria Point is the VMR Boat ramp (put in Volunteer Marine rescue
Wellington Point is the Wellington point Park/beach/jetty, all will come up on Tom Toms
Hahaha phil ring me late this arvo mate ill explain.
Winds looking good too hopefully it holds all day saturday. Will be a epic run!

Awesome jacko! Get up here it will be firing mate. Better than the straddie runs!
Tell me where in Australia do you get 40 plus paddlers out down winding at the same time on just a normal weekend.
MORETON BAY you do
I only rated that run today a 7 out of 10 and it was still epic.
So good to be sharing our local brissy run with the gold coast and sunny coast crews.
Some of the worlds best down wind paddlers male and female out there today!
We need a shuttle service that holds 20 boards and 20 people.
The car shuffle is long haha
Thanks Andy, Nick & Brisbane SUP that Cleveland Run was BULK FUN. With a great turn out, Andy quoted 40 of us for the 17.4 kilometre Downwind SUP Paddle.
BIG THANKS to the SUP's that went ahead of me you guys made a good SUP trail for me to follow all the way to the finish.
The first 13 kilometres of the run was EPIC with some fun little Bumps and the rumours are true there was some Big Bumps out there where you could glide for like ONE MINUTE "Yes Please Mr Wizard" I buried the nose a few time while even standing on the tail, but lost no speed. I had one major fall and also jumped off around half way to see if I had any WEED wrapped around the fin.
I was averaging around 4:45 down to 4:25 min per k with a top speed of 20km/h The last 4.4 k's was vey, very slow around 5:30 to 6:00min per k The run took me 86 minutes for 17.4 k
I was having flash backs out there Déjà vu seeing so many SUP's on a Downwind Run am I on Maui paddling Maliko
Andy gave this run a 7/10 for today I'd love to see a 9+ Cleveland Run, be like taking candy from a baby even a novice would learn quickly Downwind Paddling this Cleveland Run especially on a Bullet or a Custom 17ft f16
Looking forward to coming back it was a BULK FUN DAY thanks again.

Good call Andy a MORTON BAY Shuttle Bus who ever starts one up will make a killing at $15 a head per run.
Maliko on Maui has a Shuttle Bus at $15 per head it's always full and it's a laugh a minute on Kelly Moore's Shuttle best entertainment ever, plus you need to book in early for a seat.
just looking at all the photos. everyones got their paddlers stance on standing around.
hips forward , abs sucked in. that 'question mark' posture
The BrisSUP Club secret is well and truly public knowledge now. I expect the world will be traveling to BrisVegas now just to do some Moreton Bay downwinders

Hey nos, who does it rate for us older gents who may not have the fitness or strength someone like Iron Phil or Andy ?
Are there a few stragglers I could straggle with?
ET.
ET for sure mate. Im young but not quick by any real means compared to the guns. We have a stack from the guns to the slower newer ones. On lighter 15-20 knot days often groups going out when more experianced bob around the ocean to make sure everyone is still coming.
Everyones is welcome just one big rule we follow. You are on your own in the ocean dont expect help from anyone and if you are at the back there wont be help from anyone as no one will see you in danger. Everyone needs to know there limits
If things go bad out there
Hey ET, you definitely don't need to be a pro on an unlimited to get out there and do the run. I'm a relative beginner to downwinding and I was out on my 12'6, went for a swim a few times and you couldn't wipe the smile off my face
Best way to do it is to pair up with someone who is similar with fitness and speed, take off before the speed pros and stay within sight of each other.
There are also shorter options, you can launch from Wellington Point or even do Cleveland to Wellington Point.

Thanks SUP girl, I do a couple of comfortable downwind runs up here on the Sunshine Coast, but the options are a bit limited. So I would like to try something a bit more challenging without being miles out to sea. The bay runs sound like a good option For me.
I take Andy's safety points as gospel as that is how I think and act as I paddle my lake downwinders alone. However I am pushing 62 years of age so I need to be aware of my own limits.
i will keep an eye on your Facebook page as I am often in Brisbane visiting my daughters.
Thanks again.
ET.
