I run quad on 2019 starby pro 8x29 starlight construction- 4 medium black quobbas. I am 80kg. Fronts flat foil, rears 50/50. Amazing combo. It is my Bali board and never comes home to Oz. Handles drops with ease , accelerates, drives off bottom loose off top, awesome on the float. Prior to this my Indo board was a JP 8x27 pro thruster and that went best with 3 x medium c-drives. Quobbas didn't do it the JP. I also run 4x quobba flat foil, large fronts and medium rears ( the more flexi orange variety ) on carbon hypernut 7'2 in beach breaks. Feels fast but I don't own a watch, let alone one with a speedo.
interesting to read your experience with the JP.
my 8'1 JP surf pro is an incredible board with quobbas in a quad setup, but sluggish and unresponsive as a thruster with quobbas despite experimenting with different configurations and sizes.
as a quad i can feel the tail instantly bite off the drop on steep faces and then hold and accelerate down the line. it performs like i never thought possible on a SUP. the only issue i have is washing speed off!
i run large yellow fronts and medium orange rears in bigger surf & orange mediums all round in smaller stuff

Hi Stamp
i had 2016 JP so was 2+1 and couldn't try quad. Have since replaced it with a 2017 8'x27 pro with 5 boxes but during Covid, Air Asia pulled their Darwin-Denpasar flights so only option is Jetstar with a 7'6 max length. I will keep quobba quads in mind for when I can take bigger boards again.
fins are weird beasts! The c-drive thrusters worked great on the JP 8'x27 but not on the same model JP8'2x28. For me, that one went best with ARC mediums.keep up the fin experimentation! And sharing the findings.

It's been a while but I did try the Quobba with large side and med center on my Sunova SP25. It went insane! It works so well in hollow waves.
So fast and it turns amazing. As colas has said, it is game changing. The Quobba fins really complements the Sunnova SP25.
I love SUP surfing :)
Gents,
My standard issued 5in Fanatic fins are ready to be replaced.
I have been interested in trying quobba fins, may you gents suggest fins sizes possibly appropriate for a 8'7" , 29" thruster Fanatic stubby foil edition.
I am 5'11" approx 83kg 52 year old surfing
Thigh to head high waves from Gippsland through to Surf Coast beach breaks and the odd reef.

L in fronts and M in rear seems the best versatile setup for people in the 80 to 100kg range, for everyday waves.
I've used my Quobba fins in really good surf, up to 6' reef waves in the Maldives, a couple of times. Also my usual beachbreak lots of times. On my 102L starboard pro. I think they made a difference in that I seem to make it across some steep long waves I thought I couldn't.
I'm not giving them up.
I am selling my as new medium & large Quobba fins sets if anyone is interested (only foil surfing now:-)
I just started using the quobbas. I went for the medium size on the sides and using my normal center fin. I'm quite light (75kg) so thought the mediums would be better. Really like them so far. Board feels fast with good drive. I have a Smik spitfire. Keen to get some more sessions on them and in some bigger waves. Customer service is superb. They gave me a call when I emailed with some questions and went through the options.
Can anyone comment on experience with starboard pro models like 7'10?
I bought for guest use, a 8'0 PRO with Black Quobba M quad setup in it,
all that use it love it n most want to take it home.
Just wanted to say what great service and advice I received from Taryn and the Quobba crew. Out with injury atm, can't wait to use them. Q fitted the US box adapter, going the 2 large upfront and medium Slider for a tri set up. Fins arrived at the doorstep within 48 hours. Great quality build too.??
