I think some Corebans maybe do.
I've often wondered if the whole board could be covered in helicopter tape, if it could be produced economically enough.

Hey DJ - why apply it at all? I've never seen you actually paddle! You just seem to magically catch waves and have a very large, expensive selfie stick!

The wet method works well - no need for any detergent. That part would scare me. Yeah-yeah, I could make the same joke now as well - particularly given the obvious board fetish in the video - get a room! . It's the same trick they use for applying large stickers to windows.

Mmmm....I have often thought that DJ had some advanced water propulson unit hitched to his board that moved him around the ocean driven by his will-power....was hoping at some time he would reveal the secret to us all...

No need to apply it.. No need to buy it.. I've not ever used rail tape after all these years.. My main reason for using it now is that I often let others paddle my boards.. I have always had tape on my paddle blade and very rarely hit my rails but if I do the tape on the blade prevents any damage.. But many others not only do they not bother to tape their blades of their paddle but they frequently wack the boards rails.. I hate hearing that crack sound and I cringe with my fingers crossed hoping that there's no rail damage to my board.. One more reason for giving in to using rail tape is the odd time that I rest my board on its side on the road while carrying my board back to my car.. Also saves resting it on the tops of my feet.. Both Bill's (friends in Hawaii) have it on their DW boards raved about this RSP stuff so I thought I'd give it a go.. I'm also keen to try the water application trick next time..

Although the board maybe part of the answer the rider still has to make the right moves
