Hey Lyn,

Can you clear this up for me please.

Is the ladies race on sunday just the 5km flat or is there a Ladies 8km including the BOP?

I've just got some ladies asking me.

I believe there is 12'6 and 14ft class in the ladies 5km.

Cheers Angie

Angie

The 5k race will have Ladies 12'6' /14 and sub 12' ( 2k) race

As far as the 12'6" BOP Race their will be a Ladies as well as Open division ( but Anyone can enter the Pro Division ) ...

The Ladies (at this time ) will only be racing for a trophy .. But a late sponsor may be coming on board and hopefully offering a major Prize for Ladies and Amateurs only .... Will confirm this prize tomorrow.

Apparently there will be a sup board up for grabs for the amateurs.

Angie and all Ladies for that matter I forgot to mention ..

The First Lady across the line for the Open BOP will get $100 ( as per our previous prize list ) If that lady wins the BOP then She will take the BOP Prize first place as well as $100 Ladies Prize .... Must make you all feel good about being a Female .

Also I can confirm an additional Prize draw for Male and female Amateurs who enter the Surf or River Race event will be eligible for a draw of a Board Prize donated from Illusions Noosa Heads ... will outline this by tomorrow .. To claim this fantastic prize you must (1) be an Amateur or a Lady No Pros (2) be present at the presentation on Sunday.

Angie I just got a wrap on the knuckles for not explaining fully your original request .

The BOP Race will be a Pro Race Not an amateur race .... SO no Ladies division .... BUT if we get at least five ladies who dont want to race for the big bucks we will have an Amateur Ladies BOP . So if you intend to enter and wont be paying your money till the day of the race then get in touch and I will arrange a Ladies Amateur BOP Class .. But Entering early would ensure a proper class ....

But the BOP RACE is a Pro race (men and women in one class) First Lady over the line gets $100.

Hope your entering ... and as someone famous once said " get in the water .. its good for ya !"

Hey mate, Booked in and ready to rumble!
A big thanks to Sean for all the phone calls.
I'm doing the Amateur SUP surfing this year because it gives me more time to drive down Thursday morning and the level of the pro boys is becoming freakily hard to win a heat!
Also looking forward to Jacko's pro BOP race, the surf should be "BIG" on sunday which will help me keep up with Steve, Peasey and crew
Cheers Lyn for the updates and "I'll be seeing ya in the water"

Jonesy: Not forgetting that entering in the Amateurs will also get you into the draw for the fantastic SUP from Illusion Noosa.

The banks are looking good, better than the last two years, the tide is right and the weather (being close to the border) is almost perfect.

What constitutes a pro? Do you have to have a certain level of skill to be at this level (time per km, level of surfing ability) or a certain amount of years of experience

The term 'professional' or 'pro' in sport relates to the earning of monies from that sport, hence the prizemoney for the 'pro' events and divisions.

Lets deal with The Amateur in the sport ... While the Pro's will be Paddling for Big Bucks and International fame ( by the way anyone can enter the Pro divisions ) the Amateurs will be up for a Fantastic Trophy ... as well as a chance in the Spot draw for a brand spanking NEW ILLUSION CRUISER SUP .. You read this correctly "a BRAND NEW ILLUSION CRUISER .. at the time of writing this, as a Female or an Amateur paddler you have a little over 25 to 1 chance of drawing this little beauty .. Im Also Told that ROAR industries have put up a few goodies to be added to the SUP prize .. When will all this giving stop ...

One problem at the moment .. A lack of female paddlers in the Surf Division ..

SO all you ladies out there get your entries in Now.

More news after todays Press Conference ...

OK FROM NOW ITS A GOOD IDEA TO GO TO THE AUSTRALIAN LONGBOARD OPEN WEBSITE .. it will have all the heat info as well as any modifications to the event .. I will also post emergency stuff here and a few photos .. But the website has a contest profile set up and you can see live updates and results ...

BUT WE NEED MORE WOMEN FOR THE WOMENS SUP SURF >>> Saturday heats Sunday final.

At this time Sunday has a low turn out in the river race ... But im told their will be a heap of late entries .. The Contest Bags are ready to go but the high class goodies wont last Oh dear as I write this One of the guys found a $100 pair of sunglasses in his bag ... but the SUP leggies are running low .. If your paddling Ladies or Amateur your in for a chance at an Illusions Cruiser SUP . as well as a heap of goodies from those nice folk at Roar Industries ...
Candice Appleby is absolutely stoked about the BOP course .. then again Candice is enthusiastic about almost everything. And she is looking forward to Surfing in the Pro SUP and the BOP PRO.

It all starts tomorrow at Early Daylight saving time get onto the ALP website for real time updates ..

Apart form this little blot on SUP, Longboard relations all in all it was a fantastic day .... Many Thanks to the Australian Longboard Open, Illusions Noosa and Roar industries for supporting SUP when they really didnt have to
