1. The Wind - we are keeping a close eye on the forecast wind conditions for the race and have the ability to change the race course to suit the wind direction - we have buses and trailers to transport competitors to and from the intended start/finish locations. 4. A social get together will be held at the Rye Pier Restaurant on Saturday evening August 11 - all competitors, friends, family etc welcome to come along and meet Will and the Dogman - and everyone else!
5. Bay Temp - 11.6deg - for those coming from NSW don't forget the booties!
Looking forward to hosting the NSW and NZ crew here - see you on the weekend.
Dogman has arrived with a trailer full of Surftech boards - if anyone is around tomorrow - good chance to come and demo try some of the new race and surfboards.
Hopefully the hail and rain that came with the Dogman will be gone tomorrow and we can get out on the water.
Hi breezoids...
Im down here at shoreham atm
a few fun but really wind affected waves out front....
Don't think I've sat in a car for this long watching the surf... Too scared to pull on my 2mm wettie and go out... Combo of 30knts cross wind and being a northerner whoooos bag!!!!
Hope the wind backs off tomorrow but then cranks for the races on the weekend....
Good pies down here!!!!!
Pt woody sorry mate I won't be racing on the weekend for our rematch.... Lol....
Waves are looking better as the tide comes in here... Fingers crossed for tomorrow
Ps anyone got a 4/3 xl wettie they want to loan me .....
Rock on .... Yewwww
Me? Tomorrow?
I'm going to shred the wonderful snow this weather system has bought us. Nothing like some quality cross training.
Then Saturday, hit the tepid, tourquoise waters of Pt Phillip Bay for the 10km race.
Looking forward to meeting a few new faces from NSW, I think a few of you are coming along to RPS tomorrow evening. See you then.
Welcome to sunny Melbourne Roger.. It's the hyperthermia capital of Oz right now..
I think we are going to need an ice breaker ship to clear a path in the water for us to be able to paddle..

"Positively tropical". We just arrived after a 12 hour trip and put the beer on the verandah to get cold. Swapped the lead with Ange and Mal from the central Coast all the way down. Have now got trailer envy. Getting the Fluor ready for the RPS fashion parade
Are you going to swap the leed with Mal today as well!! Or just watch him disappear into the distance
Sorry, didn't follow the finishing order of women other than Jean won and seemed to be top 10 overall.

1 Second between John and Mal that must have been a great finish after both driving for 12hrs to get there and then paddling for an hour and 5 mins to have a photo finish!!!!!!
Thanks everyone to coming to the Mornington Peninsula and making the weekend such a great success - especially to the NSW crew who made the long journey.
Official results for the 10km Downwind are available on this page:http://www.supwinterclassic.com.au/events.html
Official results for the 1500m and 6km races today will be available on the same page later this evening.
See you all next year!
- and not forgetting the Dogman and the Wolfman!
Just want to say a big thank you for an amazing weekend of paddling and meeting new fellow paddlers. So well organised as every need was catered for! Looking forwards to next year!
Everyone knew who was in the top 10 paddlers and roughly how that would turn out.
The real fun and entertainement was in the mate against mate or in some cases boy against girl rivalry going on.
Kristi and Jono always fight out the juniors and it becomes a game of cat and mouse much like the LJ Torana versus the GTHO Falcon Bathurst days of the 70s. The Falcon V8 would roar away on the straights and the little straight 6 Torana would catch it in the corners.
Yesterday Jono would be flying along downwind and get a lead followed by Kristi with a smaller frame who has the advantage into the long head wind stretches all in all they are pretty closely matched.
In the 6km they got close to the beach with seconds between them Kristi stumbled in the shore break tripped the the victory was Jono's. Beaming smiles all round follwed by next race is mine, a really healthy fun spirit.
In the 1k sprint Kristi cranked it up a notch in the headwind leg and won the race again only by a few seconds, still smiles all round a handshake and discusion about who's going to take the next race at the next event.
If like us you sat on the racing sidelines for a while remember there is always someone in your age / class that is in it for fun or racing at your level. Grab a demo board and give it a crack, but beware its very adictive.

Thanks to Jeff and Lynda for a really well organized weekend of racing. With the spectacular backdrop of the Peninsula and the variety of events on offer, the Peninsula Paddle is a welcome inclusion to the Victorian Sup events calender.
Great to meet the exuberant Dogman and good effort to the crew who travelled down from NSW and QLD, added a depth and different dimension to the couple of days racing for the Vicco's.
