There is this niggling feeling inside us to go shorter - but I think resistance to the temptation is the new black.

Resistance or will-power isn't always strong enough to fend off this itch, Oliver. I think you are starting to feel a little tickle coming on? Careful now! The new 2010 ranges from the big names should be coming out soon - lots of smaller boards, very infectious.

Similiar situation .. but the reality is we're facing a two board quiver, and I don't even have room for one!

Urrgh. Not again.

Windsurfing .. ended up with a van to carry the 3 boards, 6 sails, 3 masts, 10 fins etc...
Kitesurfing .. trying to restrain myself .. got 4 kites, 2 boards so far
SUP .. started with 1 board ... .. currently have 2 for demo

I've been spending the whole time in denial about getting more kit.

I think I have the itch to go the other way now..... I have a great surfshapes 8'6" and sold my 11'2" starboard. Now I want a bigger board that paddles on flat water and good in larger/ fuller waves. Starboard was good 2/3 but not flash in the larger surf. Any suggestions? I am 92kg and thinking still 10ft and under??

Yep - got the itch

Started on a 10'6 Jimmy Lewis,

Then to a 9"3 Naish

And about to take delivery of a custom 8'6 Laguna Bay.

Spoke to Tully and he customised a board for my weight, type of surf and ability.

Heres hoping my itch doesnt cause problems by going too short !!!! Excited.....

i started thinking about a 3 inch drop then went 8 inches then chickened out and went back to 6 inch . geez time drags on slowly when theres a new board coming . how come boards take so long to make ? i know as soon as it comes there will be a long flat spell .

Yeah, I reckon a three board quiver is perfect:

- a little, high performance board
- a bigger board for the bigger days or just having fun
- a flatwater, downwinder or race board

Welcome to the 'breeze, SPSC:016.

Thanks Casso, reading the breeze has kept me in touch.

I'm a lone paddler down my way.

Except for one competition in April I've never seen or paddled with anyone.(now you know why I'm looking forward to august 9)

but I knew I had the itch from the first paddle, definately brought back the surf stoke.

I agree!!! for me @ 105kg of relaxed muscle it is:
9 6 WRipper,
10 WAA in Nov unless I see a better 10 something Ripper styled board before then - JL 10 2 Shedder looks good and,
12 Gun

The problem with having a quiver of SUP is it makes it difficult to obey the first rule of play:

- Always have all your toys with you all the time because if you don't the one you need is the one at home.

How are you going to lug 3 boards around every time you go away for the weekend?

Too true, I alway's take my 9.4 longboard and 10.6 sup everywhere for the same reason.A few months ago the surf looked good for either one only to drive 20mins to my spot and wished I had the other toy in toe So I pack all the toy's and keep an eye out that nobody steals the other one from the roof.

and make sure your boards are all the same colour so your Financial Controller (wife/GF/BF) thinks you have 1 board

our itch scratchers are always in the toyota slwb hi ace van.8.0,9.0,9.0 10.0 9.8,9.6 longboard, queensize bed, esky, wetties and other winter paraphernalia, 2 surfers and a dog.we stashed another 2 x 9.0 inside for the og demo day and still slept in the bed with a bit of shuffling
a solo surfer could store a 12.o in the ceiling,11.0 and 10.0 down one wall,8.0 down the other wall and a 10.0 longboard under the bed and all your crap under the otherside and still have room to get into you wettie ,all locked up with brooko's behemoth security system as company

I have been scrathing this lately .I love it and it's so stable it's become my everyday board .For those that don't want to do the sub 9-0 drop this is a great alternative , it's basically a blown up version of Casso's 8-10.

It's a very different board to the PSH 9-3 with a lot more tail area , when you stand on it it feels more like the PSH 9-6 wide ripper but it is much easier to throw around and slide if you under fin it and the board comes off the lip like it's on autopilot.

So I reckon if it's itchy ....scratch it.

Board racks work fine for transporting gear but I lose the will to live if I have to go through too much stuff to get to the gear I want, especially on a road trip.

Easy solution = just get rid of all the wind/kite surfing 'junk' and go 100% SUP! Imagine all the itch scratching cash you'd have!
