This is what I did with my 17' Jav using spectra line instead of steel wire.

nozza great read.
Sounds like it would of been the turps that ate your foam though? It did on my coast runner when I did repairs once.

Nozza what is your camera mount on the back any close up photos of it? For a GoPro or a bigger camera?

Camera mount I got from Ted's cameras - online, if you go in to a shop they will deny it exists..
Suction cup mount with standard camera thread. I added a Joby ball mount with standard thread for leveling and quick release.
Suction cup let go maybe twice in 3 years, always had it tethered to the board.
Camera was a Nikon AW120.
Mount has seen daily use for 3 years, a bit corroded but still useable.
The camera died just before Christmas - good camera but limited to 27 minutes of video, meaning you had to stop and restart it every 27 minutes.
Have now switched to a Gopro. Early days but not over impressed with the quality.

The mount.

Joby ball adapter thing. The bit with the bubble screws on to the camera, slides out of the mount on quick release.

nooza. when you saturated the board in turps to lift your old deck grip. that's when you got your voids. the holes were leaky to start with. turps went in and ate your foam

I'm certain the void pre dates my ownership - the circle was visible on the underside of the board when I got it - only just, and about the only blemish.
I think polystyrene is pretty inert when it comes to turps - needs acetone or similar.
Doubt I would get a significant volume down a hole in the deck, through a deck pad either.

I just did a test on the broken bit of DC board.

Poured turps on to it.
It disappeared like water would, but no reaction.

Next,

Spooned a teaspoon full on to it.....

Dissolved a cavity in no time.

Interestingly, my test piece of expanding foam shrugged it shoulders at both of them.
That's acetone sitting in a pre existing depression.

Ok. Rob piros had a board eaten away from turps on deck .ding underneath.
Now dont under estimate how much water can suck in a board. Even through the tiniest hole.

We set a pod down in a board with the tubes in.

But we had a leak. Board put on 2 kgs. Got the water out . But couldn't find the problem. Test the pod by filling with water. Water kept sucking away. Cut a hole a section out like you did.

Void situation. Tested with water again in the pod -get this. The resin used to hold the pod down got real hot . Burn the foam away and believe it or not. Burn a little hole in a tube.

Sucked water in like nothing ,filling the void with water. TINY HOLE
Unbelievable. But glad we found it.

Your voids have me stumped

Turps update - after a bit over an hour, the styrene is dissolving.
Not as dramatic as acetone, but it's lost all it's strength.
Hard to see, but this is one spot I poured it on - haven't touched it.

This is another spot, above the broken steering tubes.
I gave this a push with my finger and all strength is gone.

Not as dramatic as acetone, but something to be aware of if playing with turps on a board.

Further update.
The turps seems to be dissolving the bonds between the styrene balls.
I have poked this a bit with my finger, compressed slightly.

half a teaspoon of acetone has disappeared a lot of foam

be very careful with expanda foam !!! the fumes from it will travel and explode on contact with any flame source !!!!!

extremely dangerous stuff !!

Good Job Nossa
You've got the Scott Trudon f16 model looking better, than it was when it was brand new.

When Downwind Condition are Winds 25+ knots or more and the Ocean Swell is 4ft+ or more going in the same direction THAT f16 is the most comfortable any easy to surf Downwind board on the Planet.

When I first got that board in 2009 Downwind condition on the Gold Coast where just EPIC for that f16 until like 2012 El Ni?o has changed our weather patterns on the Gold Coast from South Swell with SSE winds to like East Swell with NE to ESE winds.
Awesome for Surfing but sh#t for Downwind Paddling.

So I got 4 great years of EPIC Downwinders on that f16 until El Ni?o

When I first got introduced to Downwind Paddling by Jamie Mitchell in May of 2003 on the 18ft unlimited Prone Paddleboard weather patterns on the Gold Coast where Epic 90% of the time for Downwind Paddling up until like 2012 due to El Ni?o.

Even Maliko on Maui has gone a bit funny since about 2012 as the East wind haven't been as consistent as previous years since the presence of El Ni?o

I don't care what anybody says I have 14 years experience under my belt when it comes to Downwind paddling and have paddled in every conditions possible and the f16 is the most easiest Ocean Downwind Board to learn on and the most stable of all Ocean Downwind Board to paddle on the Planet - it's been proven - except for the hollow f16 those boards are sh#t, f@#ed.

Enjoy the board Nossa she has plenty of Magic in her. If I ever come down to Victoria ? as I've been wanting to surf Bells beach and Winkipop the last 40 years. I'd love to go for a Downwind paddle with you on that board.

Cheers Downwinder
