Only tiny waves .....and crowded....but still feeling great.
Mahalo to Michael G from Blue Planet Surf and and Maurie from Nalu Storage for setting me up for the week. Great service my friends.
Just a quiet paddle with the Gold Coast Midweek Paddle group on Cobaki Lakes. Feels like a million miles from anywhere - until the jets taking off pass low overhead!
A couple of days ago at Red Bus in quite boisterous surf.......a fit dude riding one of those yellow warehouse body glove sups......his sister scored it at a clearance sale for $200. He was pretty good......and as only 3 people out his lack of a leg rope wasn't an issue :)
Down under Dave .
creek ..look s big mate ..I would have my 8.10 flow in that .would you call that a over head wave?
Missed the early Peninsula-pod paddle - sorry George - kids committments.
But a stonking 30+knot northerly later on. Melbourne downwinding at it's best - 26c, sunny, windy and perfectly lined up on the DJ run.
With "Retirement Boy" Mark Thommo and Dave White.
The new SUP racks at BRYC working a treat - thanks Damo & Nozza.
Almost 2 weeks out of the water with Melbourne weather, travel, other stuff.
Some nice paddles out of Beaui last few days.
Surf at Port Fairy.
Back home, Beaui.
First try of the new PSH 10'6" All rounder.
Back on Iron Phil
No dolphins Dave, but a cute little seal.
Pretty Blue Gun out for a first post renovation paddle.
Another post to follow on that.
Here's as good as anywhere!
Not today, just some days ago, a cool little session. A long SUP would have been better, but you only see the waves after half a mile walking at this spot... board choice is a wild guess.
At 1:50 I tried to pump as on a foil: pushing on the legs with a gentler, longer movement, here by moving the board sideways to simulate the downwards glide of a foil. Interesting.
I thought I recognized her out there on a long Al Merrick gun. She was charging.
The toughest factor was the crowd at 30+ chargers on the single peak. A mega 4.5 hr session yielded only a few waves but an enormous buzz.
Paddleout at 1770 for the 6 men lost on the trawler Dianne. Minion and flow side by side with yaks, longboards, shortboards, tinny, bodyboards and dragonboat. Sad. Feel grateful for what we have.
Ye trusty old Bic Wing 12'6 around the shipping buoys today......acres of kahawai.... ..dolphins in the mix (the dog a bit ashamed about the summer haircut. No wind.....no surf
