I'm getting a Starboard SUP as a demo. Should be here mid to late September!
Should be good fun, no wind? who cares, go get wet and have fun.
I'll let you know when it arrives.
Gee I was sure that greenroom would definetly been a kiteboarder when I first read his message. Embarressed to read on further that he windsurfs.... oh well takes all types..
why do surfers always hate, other people doing things in "there" waves? get over it guys, i windsurf, kitesurf, surf, bodyboard and had my first paddle on a SUP a week ago, all in the surf, there all fun and all have there best days, when the surf is pumping, surf, close outs, Bodyboard, when it's full and slow, SUP, simple, guys like these need to realise things change and new sports will come and go. if we lived somewhere where the surf was perfect every single day of the year, we would all be surfers, but fella's bad new we don't, so broaden your horizons, we all love the ocean and want to be in it as much as possible, so does it really mater what where doing in there..
Some of my ideas for alternative S.U.P names:
Punters
Strokers
Gondoliers
Flyswatters
Barge-boarding
Paddle-Pops
Float-boaters
One-arm-bandits
Jake-the-pegs
I know, all stupid names, I'm just being facetious, but S.U.P is a pretty dull acronym.
There's got to be a better name for this new/old way of surfing.
Maybe there is a good polynesian word for it - I'm guessing it would just be catagorised under the word WAKA (canoe) possibly with the addition of NGALU or NGARU (wave)
So.....
NGALUWAKA
