I love the slates. I have ridden a Raptor (until I snapped it) and I am now riding a JP Slate which does the job. Both were the smallest available and yet a little too big for me (7''0 and 7''2).
I have been getting tubed off my nut on both of them.
If youve got some pics, post them up. We all love quality sup surfing. Gives kook like me something to dream of.

New owner picked up the Blane Chambers 7'10" x 31.5" x 4 1/4" 115L board today. Final weight at 8.4Kg. attached some pics of board at different times of the build. I have been kicked off the stand up zone now twice and I am not sure why. Will post the 8'6" 120L same style board soon. This site doesn't really have a board builders category. Can't wait to try these boards out. Unique bottoms look very promising to me. I am a hawaii resident vacuum bagger and small time board builder. Get to work on my own and other shapers boards.

HI bb30 can you educate me on the rational of the tail design? what is this shape supposed to do?

b-local, not to put words into Blane Chambers mouth, but to me the bottom complex shape is a wide stable platform at low speed then subtract 4" width for planing surface and when you get it on the rail instead of 2 inches of foam you are at 1.25 inches. The tail on this board was not just an after thought, but a plan from the start to work with the bottom shape complexities, fin set up, to have speed and maneuverability for this wide ass platform. There is a lot more going on in this bottom shape than the pics can show. I will let Blane describe and promote it if he so chooses. The tail is more oval than round and not quit french curve outline. Last pic of my double hulled to inverted V quad tow board on top of Blane's 120L 8'6" SUP with similar tail outline. Mine is a perfect circle for this narrow tail. These tails are semi difficult to shape,plank out and glass in my opinion. Having felt up this board multiple times while planking out, glassing and sanding. it makes total sense to me this will work well and I will let you know in the next few days.

Simple: the Zone admin thinks you are involved in some way with a SUP company/shaper/store, and wants to make you pay an annual fee for posting there.
He wanted $600/year from me to keep posting there, so he kicked me out. And many others. And you.
Forget the Zone, it is going nowhere with this mentality, and enjoy the breeze!
And a superb board, by the way!

Thanks for the info colas. That makes sense. I think i brought more than $600 a year value to the forum. Never tried to sell anyone anything. Just trying to spread the vac bagging love.
Thanks Kirk. Love your boards and shapes. Very inspirational to my surfboard and SUP shaping. If you or any of your employees are on oahu, I would love to show them my system to vac bag these boards. Could knock out a a bunch of boards in a short time and still have plenty of time to surf/vacation. The parallel outlined boards are a bit easier than you think to vac bag the wood planks. I consider veneer at about 1/40th inch think, These wood planks are 1/10 and 1/8" starting thickness at initial vac pull.

Aaaaahhhh!!!! That explains a few things to me also. I've tried creating an account on the Zone several times to no avail and couldn't understand why? I actually thought it may have been a tech glitch. But now I'm thinking it could be something else.
8'6" x 31.5" x 4 1/4" 120L Blane Chambers SUP. Urethane spay with three coats top and bottom.Will sand tomorrow with 1000g foam pad getting urethane microboogers off. Pics of top and bottom with last pic money shot.
got a 7'2' x 28' slate recently and have enjoyed it on smaller fatter waves! light and small for travel too.
found it a bit squirelly with 4 fins, so chucked a 5th in and goes good. havent tried thruster set up yet but probably should.
this was at balangan a few days ago zooming away from the barrel :-/ but having heaps of fun

I was drooling over the quality of your craftmanship. I'm going to write the Admin at the Zone and give him some crap about banning you again. What was your username again at the Zone?

As bb30 said, the real value of a forum is brought by the posts of the users, not the advertisers...
aesthetically I find these tail shapes detract from the shape of the boards. Same goes for the zig zaggy on some Deep models and that ugly as sin Sunova Skate tail. Purely in a visual sense…but then I do love a rounded tail more than anything else…so it is as opposite as can be.
Zonoid madness. I know people who were booted for making unkind remarks regarding sponsored boards. What a joke.
The thread on the incredible wood lamination of the BC square board was awesome.

And my JP 7'6" Slate seems to prefer HUGE shapers S9 thrusters having tried small quads, bigger quads, five fins, and small thrusters. WTF!

Not a fan of door style boards ....BUT WOW they are a work of Art, if I owned one it wouldn't be going in the water but on the wall....Absolutely incredible workmanship.
