i believe the big prize is the 14 ft class this year.
the winner -tough call.
however i can say all the currumbin crew who are going a fit and pumped and have been training the house down for this one.
Funny red thumbs, hahahah.
No order but I'd think top 5 will be Travis, Jamie, Beau, Kelly and connor as a roughy.
Any on their day could take it out. I'm not sure if wind or no wind will change the result either.
Definitely more money in the 14 than 12'6 and if you happen to be first overall on a 14 it is well and truely pay day. Can't see much of the money staying on this side of the country unless its put on the bar afterwards.
What about Sam Parker as a dark horse to finish top 5?
In the 20 beaches I think, so could be in with a chance.
What about Jacko? Will he contend with those guys above or is he paddling 12'6 ( assuming those guys are paddling 14 for the money)
sick good luck to him....
fark wish i was in hawaii..just had 2 ft onshore slop this morning though was still sick fun!!
Hope its going to be windy, last year was a bit of a dud, maybe a few runners in the whole 27k where I had to step back, year before that was more fun but off shore wind so we did it from Perth to Rotto instead of Rotto to Perth.
Must be good when its good, saw an interview with Dawid Mocke the surf ski champ and he said its his favourite downwind run in the world when its on.
Mixing it up with all the elite guys is such a blast, you have to get over one time Lacey.
Going to be interesting to see who paddles what as that'll make a big difference. A few Starboard guys are paddling the ACE 14 x 25 regardless of conditions which is clearly super fast in the more marginal conditions but may get interesting in 25-30 knot classic Doctor conditions.
Will have a skinny ACE 14' there myself but am sending the big Bullet over as back up. If the wind is on then that big beastie will be plenty of fun.
Sam.
When are all you east coast guys coming over? Would be good to get a few runs in with you all before the day as I imagine I will only see the back of you for the first couple of hundred metres.
good luck to all the aussie entrants.
Sammy P, Kissa, Jacko their all in with a chance.
good luck everyone entering.
Kissa would have been the guy most likely to upset the big boys in my opinion but he's pulled out due to a side strain.
Saw him in second place just behind Connor whilst fighting a broken rudder which eventually s### itself in the first leg of last years Tripple Crown. One day he'll catch a break.
