Glide Boards

I like riding gliders because its a different kind os surfing.
its relaxing and spacious. In many ways theres no performance.
No emphasis on nose riding or tip tricks,so you get to leave your ego on the beach and just go surfing,
Its all about the feeling of trim, its a pure way to surf.To the casual observer it looks like your just standing there but I dont really care.
Surfing is all about what it feels like and not the ego judges out there,it looks simple but you need skill to ride these glide boards, read the wave more so than shorter boards.Walk the board, trim, turn re set, trim and change gear using your whole body, let it run,so theres a lot happening while riding these boards but it doesn't feel too busy.
I've only ridden it a handful of times but I have a connection to it and cant wait to get to know it better!

Nice mac.

But really. All those skills except the part of standing there are the skills you use to ride every board. The shorter the board the quicker you need to be to execute them.

The pro short boarders have excellent skills at trim and glide
Never forget that

Cheers

Stop talking sups

Seriously. Every board glides.
You just have a very easy gliding board.

The reason most guys leave their short boards for mals is for the easy glide.

But you and vanders have full time regressed to a new' low' in gliding.
Big f ing easy glide and over sized boards that you will only be able to use in very limited conditions.
So whats the new size range going to be. One foot surf

These boards are really meant for some fun now and again.

Not full time boards.

Vanders . He's a lost cause.

But you can still save your self

Ps some parts are true. Other parts are half true.the rest rubbish hahaha

Lots of talk of "gliders are only small wave boards" blah blah blah... That's actually not true... the reason they became popular in southern California was access to surf uncrowded unbreaking waves of many sizes on the outer reefs...

I'm not a fan of 10'+ gliders and have no desire to ride one again, I found my 10'" to be too much board and if i changed anything on my Hotlog it would be to go shorter... But I can appreciate those who surf them well...

That said, you don't need a massive 12' board to achieve trim and glide....

I get beautiful natural trim and glide on all my boards, even my 6'2" Fish as trim and glide is more about hull design, rocker and rails but mostly wave/board position... not purely volume and length...

But i can appreciate those who can master a craft (SUP's excluded of course )

Surf what makes you happy in waves you enjoy, just don't be a wave pig douche because you can sit 10m further out...

Case in point, Burch making a glider look beautiful... waves size more than 1ft

Thats a great clip however my reason for a glide board is only for knee high waves I've got better boards to ride for better conditions, gets me heaps of waves without stealing any while Asea and alike are mowing lawns instead of surfing

Not all girl surfers on mals are doing anything wrong. Mostly the hipster chicks who have learnt from their hipster boyfriends the art of shoulder hopping and the ability to look straight ahead.

I know mac want to be seen as a hipster but they are one of the reasons ive gone off mal surfing.

Oh the feel of the glide its a beautiful thing. Once again it has me surfing when some of my mates
are resigned to mowing lawns, weeding, washing cars or drinking coffee in carparks complaining about the poor conditions
when really they just need a glide board

Repeat . All surfing is about glide and trim.
