From all accounts the Bukit Peninsula is off the hook this week.

This video came across my FB page today; Belangan at a solid 6 foot but with a wall and what looks to be a manageable take off on a longboard.

Another video came through of 15 foot plus Outside Ulu's but they can have that. Lol.

www.facebook.com/balisurfhead/videos/400440110356124/

Amazing footage and my god it makes you want to book a ticket over !

I don't mean any offence but that is pretty crappy high tide Balangan. Trust me, that vids showing 1 in 10 or higher ratio of waves shutting down less than others from the outside peak with massive sections between there & the beach. Great wave to have some volume & length to make it through sections but not so great when your trying to get back out...I rate it as one of my favourite places for lunch but least favourite to surf most of the time. Does get awesome at times though given the right tides (low), swell/direction (south)...but heaps of accommodation built in the last few years guarantees a crowd. If you havn't been there yet make sure you do ASAP, rumours saying the swiss family robinson epic warungs on the beach may be knocked down to make way for a big resort. Big changes have already occured in the last 3 years.

Favourite for lunch, where Mick? And yes it's only a matter of time before they screw it like Dream Land, miss the old Dream Land. Your correct that clip was average surf and high tide.

Yes, I've surfed it when my sister in law lived in the area for 5 years.

Sorry you all found it disappointing however if you read it and look at the forum we are in, I was looking at a longboard friendly wave for the likes of us where high tide and shoulder hopping are considered good sessions.

Mick, I think you sit a little higher up the tree then a lot of guys on here so your ideal surf may be slightly different to an average longboarder.

I won't share any further, you blokes are ****ing hard work at times, carry on with rubbish banter and unwarranted negativity.

....thought it unwarranted mate.

Was sharing stoke, not lighting a fire and find the reply overly opinionated rather than continuing the stoke which was the idea.

Subjective is good but that wasn't so cool IMHO.

For people who have never been there I was stating a fact of the type of wave it really is and it's not longboard friendly for the average Joe and you will find Mick wouldn't take a longboard out there, if your a pro longboarder go for it. My daughter is there now and has sent me some photos of the big sessions over the last week which make that clip look like one foot dribble. Rock up to that place and view from the cliff ,most will watch and drink beers, that's what I do.

Balangans an incredible wave on the right tide and swell had a session there almost 20 years ago now that's etched in the memory - that shallow end section reminded me of the grower at desert point. I reckon it does look longboard friendly in the vid (must be high tide?)

Your right SA, I felt that way after writing it & then added I don't mean any offence. I love this kind of input to the forum, so I'm sorry. Please accept my apology. That's the hazards we face in a forum mainly consisting of text. I'm not so bad in person to share a beer with

I just say what I feel sometimes without fully considering the possible outcomes of how what I have said will be taken. I do mean well & I was going to suggest places LB friendly in Bali. Started to do it & thought nah I've already written 1/2 a book here...but so well here is the other 1/2.

Batu Bolong (Old Mans) Canggu, Balian, Medewi & high tide Impossibles (1st & last sections), small Ulu's & small to medium waves on the reefs around the airport. On the East coast, reefs off the coast of Sanur, Serangan & Nusa Dua.

.....Mac there is like a clump of Warungs at the South end of the beach & a bit of a gap between them & the next clump to the north of them. We always go to the one at the South end of that clump before the clump to the end. Hope that makes sense...just like it coz of where its situated really & they make pretty good food. We always get an ayam burger or mi goreng

Thanks Mick, appreciated.

No need for hugs with Mac, he knows I've much respect for him and doesn't mind my honesty.

Cobra.....don't know him, no need to engage from all accounts.

Happy surfing lads; especially high tide and shoulder hopping Belangan. Lol.

Just so you know, the helmet thing doesn't concern me mate.

I've had the surfers ear operation and wind protection for my ears is way better than going through that again....ask anyone who's had the procedure.

I've also got no hair on my head (you may have noted this too) and melanomas partially removed (couldn't get all of them so protection is paramount for me and my family mate.

I only concern myself with what I can control, not what others do or think.
