Lots of faults in the shaping and the glassing, but the good news is, it will hold me up on the nose, right from the first wave I realized it would work.

But I still really miss the turning ability of a pintail.

Love the diamond tail

Why is the stringer yellow? I've never seen that before.

Excellent work OB...

I meant to post this before when you first mentioned tails.

Why is it wide square/ diamond or pin?

I don't really like either.

I find a square is slow and stalls in turns and a pin means you have to draw the turn out..
So I go with a compromise.
Rounded square, Bump squash whatever they call it..

SP I've got to disagree,I find the Pins loose and the square the one that likes to draw out your turns.

I'm not sure if it's been done before, but this is how I did it

www.jetpens.com/Stabilo-Boss-Original-Highlighter-Yellow/pd/8896

So I guess I could just as easily done pink, blue, orange or green

Caution must be used not to pile it on too thick, otherwise it will leach into the resin and foam

You can order all sorts of stringer combo's...high denisty coloured foam...different types of wood in different setups...carbon...split...splayed etc etc

I happened to be driving by Bennetts today so I popped in to see if they were getting things ready for their show, they were.

And can anyone remember these?

Great work OB - can not believe I missed these last pics of the completed build. You have done a super job. Did you just drill straight through to the fin box for the leggie? Always look like an easier solution and look cool as well. Nice work. Hope the wife was fairly lenient through the rest of the build and will let you play in the shed again

What did you glass her with?

I remember those skateboards. A bloke I knew had one briefly but he was the laughing stock of the hill and got rid of it quick smart. My yellow Penny had more street cred.

The same guy also had a fibreglass boogie board.

3 x 6oz plus the volan fin patch.

I'm not sure why I did the through the fin leash, because plugs aren't hard, perhaps I just wanted to do something different, I think I did it the right way, but no one ever explained it to me, so I kind of made it up as I went along.

As I recall,

> After the board was laminated, I set the fin box in
> Once the box was cured, I drilled through the fin box, through the stringer and out the top of the laminated board with a drill bit that was just a fraction under 7mm
> I then turned the board over and drilled down towards the fin box, following the small hole, but using an larger drill bit, maybe 10mm, but stopping as soon as I got to the fin box. That means I ended up with a small hole in the fin box and a larger hole through the foam and stringer.
> I then plugged up the small fin box hole with some blutac, before mixing up some resin and Q cell, along with some tiny matting shavings and poured it into the larger hole on the top of the board.
> then I just when ahead and did my normal sanding coat on both sides and after I sanded the board, I took out the blutac plug and re-drilled the hole to the outside with the small drill bit.
> Once it was all done I had to then countersink the top edge of the hole in case any sharp edges would cut through the leash loop.

It's always tricky getting a leash loop through these holes but because I used to own so many surftechs, I always kept some thin gal coated fencing wire handy to put through the hole from the top to hook the loop with.
