Yes, I'm fully aware that there is no board, but after our surf yesterday morning, MR told me how much he enjoyed delivering his last dissertation on the Porsche marque, so I though it would be nice to give him another one that may require him to break out the panty liners

Wonder how many movie starts this model killed it looks fast and furious jimmy dean.

That's a brilliant example of a Speedster.... They actually went well because they were light, but like a lot of sports cars of their era they had their issues. They also shared quite a few components with the beetles of the same era. A classic example of what became quite common place in the motoring industry - using the same parts across a lot of models.

Oh, and James Dean died in a 550 Spyder, a variant of the above, but not really the same car.

No panty liners required.....

Here's a link to famous people who have Porsches related to their death. oppositelock.kinja.com/i-wondered-how-many-celebrities-of-some-form-or-fashion-1475394385

yeah, it's pretty crook, I wonder what the base model car was?

We need Al G to give us a hand?

Nash maybe? They were streamlining pioneers, plus a few other things, like Air Conditioning and Auto Trannies from memory.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nash_Rambler

It's got a face only it's mother would love..... Still, could be worse, could have bought an Edsel.....

Edsel got it's name from Edsel Ford Henry's son, the only recognised child Henry Ford had apparently!...

Yes, apparently when Ford became a public company, no longer wholly owned by the Ford Family, they decided to introduce a new marque. Much like Buick did in 1929 with the Marquette. The Edsel was aimed at taking the place of the Lincoln, which was moved from competing with Cadillac to supposedly a top of the line car. The Edsel was the Lincoln's replacement aimed at the Cadillac, Buick and De Soto. All three were seen as slightly higher in quality and appointments than the Chev, and some Chryslers.

Funny thing was, Henry didn't want them to call it Edsel. He petitioned against it, but was outvoted in the boardroom.

I always remember that line from Peggy Sue Got Married.... "You bought an Edsel?"

Oh, Base model of the Nash Rambler was the "Deliveryman" 2 door wagon, what an original name......

Interesting car eh! Ford were going to build a Mustang Wagon, however it only got to modelling stage and was rejected. They didn't think it would sell and IMO were probably right.

There were a few wagons converted from the sedan model, the most notable being the Intermeccanica version from 1965. One wonders why anyone would want to do that to a car.

Same short body as the Nash Deliveryman and the Chev Handyman.....
