Who's into it I asked a mate to make me some racks as I was overloaded with boards but unfortunately he must have forgotten about them,so I've sold a few board and have enough funds to get a new set of clubs,I'm keen on the M2 by Taylormade, look like a very forgiven club and I need all the help I can get,no surf today

I think I'll keep my Nike Sling Shot irons and just upgrade a couple of woods ,rescue club and putter.

Used to play a bit before my back injury. Frustrating game at times but when you hit a good shot it keeps you coming back. Don't have any golf gear now.

Apologies for my ignorance but Im a weekend hacker who'll only play nine holes and love a game now and then but what is a rescue club?
A mate gave me his 4y/o set of calloways and they sure are sweet compared to the set I found on the roadside throw out, so good clubs do make a difference.

Trust me mate as a real hacker to the tee the rescue is the best club a hacker can have in the bag.
A 3 rescue replaces a 5 wood and 3 iron in basic terms, its shaped like a low wood easiest club to hit.

Just teasing buddy, you just need to unhook yourself off that McT lure.

Given these winds I think I may just join you for a few rounds.

I used to play every week until I moved out of Perth 20 years ago. Mate & I would have a few beers while we did 9 holes.

I'd like to get into it again, I've got a great course a couple of mins away

Good rescue club like an M2 will see you not even have to bother with the 3 wood most of the time. Like Cobra says though - the putter is the one you spend most of the time with - so concentrate your efforts there. Drive for show - putt for dough as they say. I always find the 50m in to the the green is where you can really pick up your shots. Work on your short sharp pitches, bump and runs, and nice high 10-15m lob wedges - then putts from 5 ft and under. Work on the weight around the greens and watch your score drop 10 shots fairly quickly. It can take a lifetime to get the same benefits from a driver or 3 wood. If you can hit a nice rescue club 180-200m in a straight line and be fairly accurate with the short irons you will be pretty well sorted on most courses. At the end of the day its nice to hit a big long driver - but if you hit it to 230-250 down the middle every time - then pull the rescue out - you will reach most long par fours in regulation anyway. And the shorter ones will just require a 9 iron at best - which from 120m +/- a bit should be a breeze. Play round with a 3/4 & 1/2 swing on the 9/W/SW (full follow though - don't stab at it) and see what it does for ya. You will find a 80-60-40m range in no time. Then its just about execution on a consistent basis..........and thats where it all falls apart

Just remember though - golf is easier said than done and you should never listen to some one who is not a pro - ie those mates you are playing with or random blokes on the internet

I have put my driver away again sadly and am teeing off with a 3 iron,,,

rescue clubs would be scouts stopping me playing not something that I would buy

Get a 2 rescue - you will find the rescue easier to hit (lots more forgiving than a 3 iron) and you will hit it further - trust me Get a demo. You can also get rescues that have shaft adjusters - so you can make adjustments for more draw or height etc. Now that is boarding on cheating if you ask me!

I had that problem but did alright with a 2 iron. Better off being on the fairway and shorter than in the water or trees

Come on boys all this talk of Rescue , have you got Poppy's arms, sorry but would only use one for two or max three shots a round. Think about it how many 190 m shots do you hit a round.

I'm using the same clubs I used before I did my back in.... my game is better than when I was fully hooked and getting lessons.

The key....no warm up strokes... walk up to ball, look at ball, hold club in a I'm gonna smash some heads grip, look around for potential hazzards (people) and then farming smash it

I like using the soft ladies balls

Chrispy that's how to play golf.

I play my best golf hungover but can't play drunk, when playing pool one must be drunk.
