'Bitumens' cos the bitumen car park washed away in the 70's in a big storm. Car park never repaired, now covered in sand and grass and serves as a viewing area. Insidentally my son calls that 'old mans' cos of all the retirees and mal riders

THE BOX

named after your head....Is it because its shaped like a box....or is it more to do with what a ex member told me .

He said it indeed was to do with your head 'but a box is not always a cardboard square'' then he started ranting on about womens rude bits and some other crazy stuff that would make his mate cobra blush.

It would have been easier for me mac if just called you **** face

I want what your on because I couldn't understand a word you just said or is Lacey calling me a C**T again

Great pics Bazza ! Imagine what the Harbour would have been doing on that day. I imagine you used to surf down there a fair bit when it was on. Any good pics of it?

We used to surf a place called Rolling Stones - every time you duck dived on a solid swell you could hear all the boulders getting washed around. The place next door was called Annihilations - you took off very close to some big rocks and if you went down - it could be all over. There is another wave just inside that called Tracks - after the railway that runs past the coast line. Blacks was called blacks due to the colour of the sand. And a final wave of interest called Last Chance that always seemed to have a wave when no one else did. Not a bad collection of names for a nice little isolated community. Certainly a bit more thought went into those than a few around these parts!

I did like those "nulla ones though. Northern beaches spots are pretty dull in comparison Little Narra - the small beach just north of Narra !

I guess you mean the Wedge & Belt road Ted , no photos sorry , there is a U Tube vid of" Bog Works Surfing", quite a decent size...

The Womb - nothing warm and welcoming about this joint.

The Other Side of the Moon - hippies in the 70s named this joint. Who knows.

Three Bears - see above, although Tom Hoye hired the tractor that put the first track in so I could ask him.

Hells Gates - no idea its origins.

Poo Shooters - an outer reef we had for 9 years before we saw anyone else out there. Now infested with tow in knobs and apparently renamed The Passage (I think). I preferred our name as it was what it made you do. A legitimately big and powerful wave in my hometown which is not renowned for big nor powerful waves.

Hells Gates - fishos named this one...if you've ever been through there on a big swell it becomes quite apparent why its so named

The Womb - One of the main places I surfed over summer, swell magnet exposed coast. I've snapped 4 leggies in my life, 3 of them here. Huge barrels return you to the womb. I think named for its huge barrels.

Other side of the moon - I think coz its the other side of the rock, thats what I always thought anywayz. Probably right on the hippies though

Three bears - Mama's, Papa's & Baby's (Three breaks)

Hell's Gates - I guess coz the names Gallows & Guillotines was already taken.

Poo Shooters - Have heard of it, never surfed it. Funny name but

The most unusual wave on the list is found on an artificial river next to Englischer Garten, Munich's main park. It's completely landlocked.
