Forgot to mention that I was in Sydney for the day last week.
Caught the train to Circular quay, the ferry to manly. Had a foot massage near the wharf, had lunch at manly yacht club and then surfed the Bower at 1 foot on a 14' SUP.
Then I flew home. All in the name of a very productive days work.
Always surprises me how beautiful that place can be.
When I was young and silly, rocks pub crawls were one of my favorite pastimes.
It was a minimum of 1 schooner per pub, unless the peeving was good.
We could easily do a half dozen pubs before we settled into one.
These days I would be lucky to last 2 pubs before I was rooted, and not in a good way.
Going to pubs in the rocks these days reminds me of one of the more unwelcome changes bought about by the influx of pommy back packers, "The Pint", many pubs down there offer nothing but pints or half pints these days.
It's a totally unsustainable amount of beer to drink in this country because if you drink it at the normal speed you drink a schooner or a middy, it's too warm by the end.
This is fine and dandy if you're a binge drinker Like most of these pommy kids are, but not so good if you simply want a quiet beer and a chin wag.
So half pints now tend to be the order of the day for me.
Maybe we could start off at the opera house and then do a bit of a crawl,
Much of the talent at the opera house bar are the corporate type chicks that permanently have sticks shoved up their arses. We used to call bars like that "dry cleaners" because that's where the girls would go every Friday to pick up a suit.
The low class scrubbers over at the rocks are more my style for a good optic
