What a fun little wave, that's about the size of the sets coming through here today. But look at that little A frame reformer, looks so fun

Yes indeed. What a super nice wave. So the question is what is he riding? I am not sure I could ride one of those - definitely have a few more kgs than that fella but that is the sort of afternoon board when the wind is up that I would like to have at my disposal to play on. Much more fun than a longboard for someone like me. I like the longboard but I still want to do turns etc and that thing looks almost perfect.

I think I have room in my quiver for at least 2 more boards if not 3. I need to sort this out when I get to my next destination though - not before. Will give it a few weeks before I start ordering. But if one comes my way I may not be able to help myself.

1. A board like that one in the vid but a more volume for me - low priority
2. Larger high volumed gun for the bigger windier days - sooner rather than later
3. A more high performance step-up style board - 6'5" rounded pin for those hollow days 4-6ft but you still want to be coming strong off the top - at some stage in the not too distant future

Not much to ask for I know. But in all fairness I have cleared out a lot of boards of late. I am travelling with two boards only. Storing my 2 longboards and the single fin for now. So definitely room for a couple more once I get settled

nice surfing.

the other week mac and myself had the pleasure of being out at lm when beau young was out there.

that guys cutties are unbelievable. he going up the wave rather then along then just jams its so hard and whips the board around yet it looks seamless and smooth

you just know that its class and would have scored him a lot of points over the years.

I like the way he takes off behind the peak and that Starsky and Hutch like soundtrack makes me want to grow side burns.

Didn't mean to quote Ted. oops.
If anyone likes the look of that board I know someone, who was talking to someone else I know today, about selling their 7'10" (if memory serves) V bowls.
He wants a longboard as he had a heap of fun noseriding on his mates board on the weekend.
Maybe there's a swappage opportunity.

What size, dimensions and type of gun are you looking for, Ted? I am just starting to look at far far bigger board for solid waves. I have this horrible feeling my guns have been too small for the last 20 years.

I am after a 8 * 20* 2 7/8 or similar. Something that is meaty and does not get bounced around by the wind too much and can paddle me from A to B in a hurry. Mostly I want something that is complety reliable and feels safe under the feet and goes like a rocket to get me out of trouble. Hope it's not too much to ask ! In Indo last year I saw a lot of elder blokes dominating the bigger days on their monster boards - it looked so easy. I know it wasn't - but they were getting into them so early and keeping out of trouble. I want that. I hate getting beaten up when it's big !

You sound on a similar search to me. I have gone a little wider and a ****teenth (technical term) thicker than what you are looking at. I went wider to keep the curve in the outline. I saw a similar thing in southern NSW in November which got me thinking too. I don't want to surf bigger waves, just my maximum easier. And I will get more too.

Yep I agree.
& To me anything that has the word Hull in the design concepts makes me think limited range in which it will work.

Still, I'd love to give one be a run on a nice little point.

My thoughts exactly. I can not wait to get my hands on something with that much volume - should make life a dream on those bigger /windier days. I have a certain place in mind for this board. Its been something I have been thinking about since August last year. I am happy to go wider - 21 and thicker as long as the rail has some shape.

Hey what about an AB pelagic series channel bottom?
I'm antsy to take my AB for a spin so might even take it for a paddle tomorrow at Tea tree.
Called my friend who will let the owner (Sean) of the 7'10" V bowls to give us some dims and pics.
Hopefully he'll register and respond on here.
If not I'll receive an email and post them myself.

Cuttlefish is right - i do have a 7'11 vbowls, 22 wide or so and 3 thick under the chest - but it foils out in the nose to half an inch. It's stringerless, so it has plenty of flex through turns and is quite light. This is not a hull. I've ridden hulls - and it is much more user friendly. I've had it just over a year and tend to ride it up to chest high or so. Like the vid suggests - you ride it from the tail, then the middle. I'm a small guy so i have managed a few cheater fives, but all the speed and trim comes from guts. It's a really fun board - and was my log substitute - but i'm itching to get back on the nose. The vbowls is in great condition with only a few minor bumps - no repairs or major damage. It also comes with an akali 9inch vbowls fin (made for the board). I'd be willing to swap for a noserider or log in similar condition - 9-9'4. I'm in NSW and south of Wollongong.

thanks gents - yeah that was a mandala quad. Got it real cheap and it was actually really good in big surf. Wished it was single or 2+1 - it was a lokbox set-up and the fins were a horror to set straight etc. Oh, and those boards are the tip of the ice-burg....
