Outerstanding!
Beautiful indo boards those OA's, a mate just brought 2 for a Tello island trip... and both got badly dinged in transit, he's absolutely gutted!!!
Great 8' Midlength! Also for sale, just saying
Interesting design that, thats outline to me says it should be a pintail vs the swallow tail and fin wise i'd be running a single, but it only has a thruster box... its a wizstick right? heard good things about them anyways.

So basically it should be a Thick Lizzy....
Just remember not all mid lengths are hipster singles (and i've picked up a 7 4 vouch that i'm loving although it is slippery as a snake!). This custom 7 foot Vulcan Surf "megasimmons" shaped by Dane Hantz just arrived from Cali for me - unfortunately had a run in with qantas baggage handlers so out of action for a while, I'll report more when I get it wet. Check out www.surfvulcan.com/small-wave

I don't think midlengths are about "hipster single fins" at all but that could totally be a whole new thread . Personally I prefer a single fin vs a thruster though as I'm more of a cruiser, I like glide and big carves rather than smashing the lip, thats just my style though, it's what i like watching but each to there own. I used to surf 6'4" 3 fin thrusters every day, and thats 90% of the boards down here in Tas but I just didn't really enjoy it and now i've sold all of them...
The thing I love about mids is the range and versatility of boards... so much variety and variety keeps it fresh and interesting.
Speaking of, thats a wild looking sled, mega rocker on those things which is strange because the traditional Mini Simmons is dead flat with just a slight bit of nose rocker, its the flatness and super wide tail that make them fly wheras this board is relying on lift from the rocker profile... very interested to hear how it goes... did she get damaged?

Oh hell yes!!! But I reckon Flat Tracker would be better on your really flat waves over there, the Lizzy prefers a bit steeper wave, the FT is a better wave catcher in flat waves...
hey andy yes a bit of a ding in the tail - not surprising given its fat ass! nothing sinister in the hipster single fin comment - if anything just jealousy as i love those boards but find them super hard to surf, the vouch i've got is a real struggle for an ordinary surfer like me but i'm loving it and learning from it as well...
got onto the vulcans by picking up a cheap secondhand bullshark model - an oversized one at 6 6 as i was looking for a easy travel board but still with volume (22 1/2wide, 2 7/8 thick, similar outline) so i could catch waves easy. great fun to surf, really interesting design (it is super light epoxy and includes the light drive tech which gives a really positive flex..).
wanted a more mid size version with extra glide - the bullshark paddles into waves super easy, takeofffs are no problem, but with its rocker doesn't paddle around the lineup as easy as i'd like, wanted one with a bit more glide and to surf a bit more cruisy - the bullshark wants to be thrown around.
will review the mega when it is sealed up... pics of bullshark attached, one answer to the fat old guys short board...
Hayley Pin, so siiiiiiiiiiiiick
Looks good but I think it would be better with a swallow tail and set up as a quad

I fixed this for you mch
Well since you brought it up.....
Been looking to pull the trigger on a 7 foot 2+1 egg for ages!!!!
ive come to this...
Creative Army Huevo
DT Howard Special Mini
Christenson flat track (with sides)
Thomas (doesn't have a model on his website but some sweet ones on his Insta)
Jye Byrnes Crossbreed
How do ya choose? I want them all.
My thinking is I want one for decent surf around the shoulder-head and a half size. The vid of Devon in the OP is what it's all about, get in early and carve away.
what you boys reckon?
Chrispthekiwi, that Thomas looks unreal
I currently have 2 Christenson, a Campbell brothers Bonzer and had heaps of others over the years, Taks, Mct, beau young and numerous others. but really want a cross breed they are as good as any. I nearly bought one before I got the last christenson but had lusted after a c bucket for 15 years so couldn't pass up the opportunity for a custom one.
Yes, I like the look of the crossbreed... how is your cbucket sp?
i have liked the look of the Howard mini for a while but the wider nose put me off, anyone ridden one?
Really like it, they are a pretty traditional egg shape. Nose about the same width as the tail.
Mine is a 2+1. I had a single one before that and prefer the 2+1. It excels in chest high waves that are a bit fat. Mine is 7'4 and thinner then most of the shop ones.
I commented a bit on it in the flat tracker thread too..
Have you fins arrived yet Andy?
unfortunately no... I might just buy some bonzer sides and try em out
Midlength party wave at Malibu...
Personally, I'm a fan of the party wave where the wave allows...

I'm quite partial to the shared wave as well. You do need to be a bit choosey about the wave and indeed the other person too!
With the right combination though it can be some of the most enjoyable surfing bar none.
Looks siiiiiick, designed with Devon Howard and looks very similar to the Takayama Special Mini, maybe a bit narrower through the nose. Do thay have em in straya?
I've had this 8' by Ronnie Goddard for a while now, it's a really smooth cruiser and great on a steep faced wave...slight concave all the way along but not his chine rails..took 4 sets of fins to find the right fins that worked for me, DVS quad set in them now
I love his gloss work
Can't get the pic to spin..

Patagonia. He is the son of the bloke who founded it.
Nice looking board. Look like a better wave board of the Howard special. There is clip of Devon ripping in one somewhere on insta.
Nice looking board SB.

Beautifully finished boards those Goddard's, I rode Vanders up at Snapper but it was super crowded and I was too scared to surf it in case I damaged it... I'd love to surf it again in different conditions... Cracker board...
I'm going to chat to some local shapers about getting a howard mini/c-bucket inspired midlength.

Thats a real nice looking board, classic outline. Do you know whats going on under the hood?
These look nice too, similar to the Flat Tracker but with a more basic tail and a bit more nose rocker...
