Picked up my new shooter yesterday - 3rd custom from the same shaper - only way to go! Has the Rpela shark deterrent built in as well.
8'2 x 22 x 2 2/5
Saw that on FB last night, love the outline, very nice.
I would say it's been a long time since surfing was anything close to counter culture. What I meant was broader acceptance from the generally conservative surfing culture for approaches and styles that challenge the norm.
But alternate styles of surfing, like Hulls, Logging etc are certainly outside the main, especially down here in Tassie, aka "3 fin thruster city" and personally i'm happy thats the case...
I'd rather do my own thing and have it be something unique than have it also become "part of the pack"
I don't have that full vid but it's probably on "Surf Network" they have basically most surf vids
Would like to see the whole 'Almost Cut my Hair' video sometime, do you have it?

Agreed. If everyone started riding mids I'd be pretty much certain to move onto something else.
That's a different thing to acceptance. What I'm calling for is an increase in respect for people that choose a different path, an end to the assumption from certain types that if you're not on a shortboard you're a kook and therefore fair game for a burn. Simply people respecting the great variety of ways to enjoy the surf.
Devon himself said he's been ordered out of the water at J-Bay for riding his HSM. (He held his ground.) It's just such a ****ed attitude and the end starts by people saying so.

Totally agree... I get the vibe that even though your riding alternate craft to most in your area that they respect your ability...
I think the decline of etiquette is a real concern though... making pre-conceived judgements based on craft ridden rather than watching people surf and their attitude first. I find more and more people are just wanting to get theirs at the expense of others... I'm all for sharing whatever the craft... I mean everyone poo poo's the SUP guys and yeah there are plenty that are bad because of the easy access to the lineup, not having to work hard and earn your place... but the worst etiquette I see is from the SB guys that think they own certain breaks...
If we can agree that 'Hipster' is typically derogatory, then that comment is a (barely) covert dig that serves to perpetuate exactly what we're talking about.
Edit: I forgot this.....
We just call people that ride mid lengths hipsters, simple
I normally get C%nt so i'll take it
And that's just by the missus whilst packing the car ..
Hey Andy do you know the difference between a bloke on a glider and a learner on a foamy.
The price they paid to get in the way

Shhhhhhh... don't say that in the "Show us your 10'ers" thread... they might call you a hipster
Plenty of information on Dispragement Humour and the way that it normalises prejudice on the web.
Wow you really are salty lol

****. I'm In trouble, i own a 10ftr too.. Also a fish and a hand plane.
I would classify myself as an average surfer at best, but one who LOVES every moment in the water...
Had a super fun session on the points on Friday on the 7'7"Lizzy
and the one bit of feedback I constantly get is "mann that board is fast" and she is, just casually glides through sections where the rest of the crowd are pumping like mad and still mostly not making it... And it's definitely not me, it's definitely the board... Just put it in the right part of the wave, set the rail and enjoy the ride... just so much fun and makes its so hard to ride anything else...
So much love for this board
I reckon this clip shows it off nicely too.

Note: From Ryan "The Hayley Pin is 95% Lizzy, just missing a few special tweaks"
When ya getting the 8'2 again ???
Its on the way, somewhere between NZ and Tasmania... hopefully arrives Wednesday for the points on Thursday but I may just on-sell it.
Kinda thinking I should have gone for a 7'2" instead, I'm working hard on my paddle fitness and now find I can catch a lot more and smaller waves on the 7'7" so I'm not sure I need anything that big.
Anyways, I cant afford both so i'll have to decide when she get's here.

Ryan shaped another Lizzy in the states and then he rode in NZ and then has sold to me...
I think once I see it and surf it I wont be able to sell it though...
I guess my ideal is less boards, keep it simple... less money, less impact.
So, I think instead of adding a new board though I will work on Duck Diving the 7'7" more effectively and running the sides when it gets bigger and this allows me to keep 2 mids plus the log as a complete quiver.

Well... she's beautiful... Keeper out of the box
Bring on Thursday and the points.
Looks beautiful Andy! Be sure to post a review, maybe you could run your 7'7 Lizzy with sides so you get different feels from both of those beauties
Nothing better than a new board arriving .
Is the wide point a far way back on them Andy or just the photo angle.
Thx Mac
And yeah Onefin, I have the TA sides (training wheels according to Joel Tudor ) now... FINALLY!!! so keen to give those a run and see what difference they make.
I think the board will feel different partly just with the extra volume but also the tri-plane hull is more pronounced... Its also Volan so that tends to make it a bit stiffer.
SP, the wide point is actually forward but the rail line is really pretty straight. He sets the thickest point right on your chest for paddling and the wide point is just before that... Too fckn cold to take her outside and get a proper pic sorry... Maybe tomorrow...
515, The cold brings the swell so Thursday looks really promising.. And the key to surfing Tassie winter is bloody good rubber, which I have so I'm normally pretty toasty out there... Getting changed on the other hand... NASTY business
Looks great Andy! Give her a few surfs if you decide to flick it.
You'll keep it for awhile though
she looks a keeper dude, hopefully get her out for a run tomorrow and see how she flies...
