Fun with fins. Too bad there are no waves.

Crazy looking thing from a lateral mind shaper. I would not have consider it as functional until I saw Kelly riding a shorter version of the concept, shredding on the rail.

Then again Kelly could take steel ironing board out and still shred.

You know I'm jealous of your quiver hey?

That Millsy is set up the same as my Webber Diamond, but I also run a small knub in the centre for a little bit more drive and hold.

How does the knubster Twin / Quad perform? Too stiff on the eightball?

I should never have sold my Modii twins, so many good cheap mid lengths running FCS popping up at the moment.

Haven't tried the Modii twins and bonzer runners combo yet. Ocean has turned into a lake.
The Millsy could use a pair of the Futures nubsters in the quad rears when its 4'. I have some I just haven't put them in. A bit of side slip here and there can spice things up.

Shame I can't do a Bonzer setup with the Futures and the Large Sanctum twins, would love to try that and think it would rock.

Maybe I can do a reverse Bonzer setup, trailers instead of leaders? You tried anything like that?

Nope. It was very nice to look at but was way too cruisey in the way it rode. Was an 8'er so maybe in a 7'er it would be more lively. Didn't have a gas pedal underfoot so was stuck keeping pace with the wave and then the narrow tail was too easy to bog in cutbacks in weaker waves so the board needed size but I wasn't confident it would be fast enough when it was sizier. Saw a 7'er ridden a few times on Gumtree marketplace for $950 fyi.

A mate I surf with a lot has bought and sold over 150 boards in the last year or two. He's the KING of Gumtree. Talk about a seagull swooping on a chip. Sometimes I'll send him a link to a board he may like and he'll answer "just picked it up."
Edit: He just called me to tell me about the 7' Christenson Phish (long fish) he just swooped in and bought for a song...He's the man!

Sweet, just remembered you posted one a while back and wondered your thoughts on it.
Youre not really a single fin guy by the look of your boards either?

Well I learnt to surf on singles but once I switched to twins I kind of never looked back...apart from the potato chip era...gawd that was horrible. Luckily I was in Thailand for most of that time so wasn't struggling too much on them. My favourite single in say the last 10 years A McCoy 6' Astron zot. Great little board with just the odd wtf moments. Next was a 6' Beachbeat copy of a Channel islands Machado single. Had some epic waves on it when the Bluff was pumping. Just not crazy about the way singles usually come off the top. The Astron zot was the exception with its wide tail it did not stall like a pinnier tailed single.

Yeah I had a machdo they are really good board.

Let's not talk about the potato chip era. Still dirty that people figured out that those boards sucked. I always had fishes and LBs and those small glassy days were a real joy for me when blokes gave up on surfing those things in small waves.

Ive had a couple of c Buckets, think they are better than the flat tracker. 2+1 is definitely the better option on them. Heaps more versatile than a straight single.

Missed out by a mickeys whisker.

Guessing it got snapped up by CF's buddy.

Thought all my Chrissie had come at once.

Right length, right volume, right price.

Damn.

Saw that last night and thought...that will be gone in the blink of an eye!
Kinda like my Firewire potatonator 6'2" with a beautiful set of my favourite quad fins in it. Christenson quads.
Some scumbag stole it out of the back of my van while it was parked out the front of the house last week.
The board was quite yellow but still in good condition and watertight. They obviously didn't take it out of the board bag to check its age before making off with it. So bummed out about losing the fins. If anyone sees one for sale let me know...it could be mine.

Yeah bummed out that I came in just too late, had freight lined up and everything but it sold out from under me.

Guess it was easier for him to sell to a local rather than needing to wrap it in old fridge boxes.

Absolute dogs stealing peoples stuff at a time like this, maybe if we where 4 weeks further into a lock down and desperation kicking in for some quick cash you could somewhat understand, but with gov payouts absolutely no needed to act like dogs. Mongrels need to be kicked to the kerb.

Ok angry moment over.

Had some sweet mid length joy this morning, have not surfed mine in a while - forgot how fun it is at a particular local spot.

Have been tempted to put side bites in but this morning a single fin was perfect for going with the flow through slow sections then being in the sweet spot when the wave picked up the pace.

Still feeling it..

Nice stuff, I'm hoping to get my surf visa reinstated on Friday morning. We got some swell coming and a light onshore which are perfect conditions for me.

Don't know about you guys but I find a light on or cross shore awesome, tends to put some ripples on the swell so that this half blind old wombat can see them easier ;-)

A little bit of onshore is sweet, makes the waves a bit pushier, keeps the crowds away and splits the peaks a bit.

That is a very narrow looking board !! Do you know the dimensions or what conditions it is shaped for?

No other details. It was posted at the end of an article about a board Webber shaped for Kelly Slater which uses the Webber flex quad set up.stabmag.com/hardware/watch-kelly-slater-on-a-5-fin-board-then-read-greg-webber-explain-it/
"That's the width I rode as a kid," said Kelly...and that was about the shortboard.
