I've had that exact board. .BT109 and they are a great board IMO.
Some may tut tut being a Tuflite board but that one is brilliant, even Bill has said he's unable to replicate it in PU.
Had one as well bloody good board
Why did you sell it
Moved it on in the quest of the perfect board, which was at the time a McT () 8ball..which I really like.
But then I tried to buy it back and the guy wouldn't sell....so I bought the yellow Tolly Point Break that's a page back.
Mick that cutaway fin is what Billy liked to put in his boards all the time..carbon fibre on the Tuflite models and glass on PU..
Billy hasn't surfed for many years now due to knee/hip problem I think but he was a really great surfer along the lines of RG..if you can imagine an ADHD surfer..always moving along the board..pretty to watch.
Thanks for the info mate....I read somewhere that he was shaping alongside RG for a while as well.
Cheers guys, yes heard/read nothing but good things about the board. Apparently even Billy himself loved the tuflight & rode or rides that when he rides a longboard. I honestly didn't know much about the man other than the board brand until I was researching the board (interesting bloke). Most info in regard to the tuflight's is up until 2014, so not current. The new carbon boards he's making, the Ingleby series look sick & I like how they've colour coded different board constructions, thats pretty cool.
I'm thinking the boards like 9'0 x 22 x 2.5, significantly less volume than my 9'4 whalebone. Fairly light, epoxy but more rocker. So not gonna paddle into waves & glide as well. Should have very noticeable lower swingweight, coz its shorter & lighter. Plus that extra rocker should help get me into & out of more critical positions on the wave...maybe haha. Whalebone has similar distinc bottom contours & knifey round tail. Tolly is bit thinner & a bit sharper I think....both allrounder boards, same same, but different. Really excited to get on it, but not expecting it to go as well as the whalebone in small conditions, I think its more of a step up performance longboard. For bigger waves, but probably good on beachies too.
As a bonus it came with this cool looking fin about 8 or 9 inches, I will probably try some time next winter when the tides rise. Too low this time of year, I'm likely to damage it and the fin box getting tempted into a racey section across the reef. I've put Asher Pacey rear quad sides on & a Ruben Roxburg 5.5 inch on the back. See how that goes, think with the knifey rails that will be heaps in most conditions, other wise I have a shapers 6 inch performance set that would probably go good too
I had that fin in my FireWire tj and didn't gel with it , it hummed when at speed and felt too stiff if anyone is after one it's theirs for $50 PLUS postage
Bit too much fin for HP style surfing I think, probably work good as a single & you were surfing more traditionally. I'm probably going to whack mine on my 666 for more drive, would be heaps better than the skinny starboard one I have on there now.
New board collected this morning; absolutely stoked with it in every way and exactly what we planned and wanted.
You want a custom ? You just can't beat Carabine for quality, craftsmanship and one on one communication.
This is one was loosely based on an MC Whale Fish but tweaked to work in with Carabine's iFish design and it's just perfect.

That was decades ago when they both worked for Bob Cooper in the 70's. ..

Beautiful board Chris. Best board I ever had was a Hohensee twinee back around '79. Been thinking of getting another but bigger twin fin and I reckon you've nailed it with this board. Put a ride report and vid/pics up please!

Another great looking board SA, I've been driving past their shop Mon to Fri for work over last 5 weeks either too early or late. Gunna spend the weekends down here for a few so will have to call in and check it out. Don't think I can fit 10 footer on the plane but some nice looking fins in the window and a tshirt might be in order
Thanks guys, I'm really happy with her and she rode a dream yesterday.
Couldn't believe how how loose and free feeling it was for a big board which made for an added bonus and a feeling I didn't think I'd find in a 70 litre board.
GWatto, they are open on Sat mornings so be sure to drop by and let them know we've spoken and I'm sure they'll look after you.
Mac, the McCoy art is originally a Cheyne Horan artwork on a lot of his 90's boards and I saw a symbolism in it which I liked; yellow belly (kids), red body (Mother) and green protector (Father) wrapped around.
When we were pregnant with Taj we got the 8'0 made with blue replacing red (for a boy) and kept the theme and this one replaces the McCoy in the quiver so we've a red and blue with the design.
They look awesome on the water too !
They look grouse mateI'm not real sure but I think the designs where meant to resemble the Christian Fish symbol to which I think Cheyne Horan was into at that time!....

Thanks Al. Hope your well mate.
You might be right but it was the symbolism WE saw in it that led us to use it rather than whatever the original may or may not have been.
Matching complementary pair with a special place & meaning - and they both go well not much more you could say or ask mate
PS - almost forgot might be a happy birthday to be given for the weekend from memory too hey C

Chris,
Called in like you suggested, mentioned your name etc
Some great looking boards in store...
Long and the short of of it when the bride says "why don't you just buy it" seems wrong not to.
Yeah mate, it would have been criminal not to have grabbed that beauty, I'd suggest getting the bride a really good Chrissy present.
Cracker looking board!!!!

Lol.
Yes, that's Shane Hornby; the owner of Carabine Surfboards right there.
Shane's brother Ben captained the 2010 St George League team to the premiership and Shane absolutely rips on a shortboard.
Watto, if you want a shirt, PM your details and size and I'll get one mailed to you mate.
