OK, I know Arrawarra has a half decent School now, i also know it has a tasty RH point, and that excites the wife, but how fickle is it?, Are there any decent lefts near by as the rest of us a goofies....i'm still liking Emerald would love some feedback on the surf there.
I've surfed Emerald 4 or 5 times, I've seen it biggish, but mostly just average, it's a southern point, so it should be a right, and there are some rights there, but the best waves I've seen are always the lefts about 150 yds north of the reef.
I don't know why this is, I just took a look at the arial to see if I could see a reason and the only reason I can see for it is that there looks to be a lot of sand in front of the estuary outlet causing a biggish bank. The boat launching channel is quite deep so it may be taking away a lot of the juice from any good swell.
I still recall it as the location where I saw most extreme nose ride ever around 7 years ago, I was paddling out and this guy was on a left coming towards me, he was on an orange triple stringer redline. There he was, perched on the nose like a parrot all ten toes over the edge, fully crouched and he had set the board high on a 5 to 6 footer, it looked beautiful and I was in the perfect location to see it in all its splendor. I'll never forget that image.

I believe there a few talented Long boarders and All boarders around there. Harley Ingelby surfs there quite a bit, he knows his way around a longboard.

had a look a a couple of places there wondered what it was like. Completely missed that part of the coast travelling through 25 years ago. Good to know worth looking at.
Surf69,If you go to Coffs Harbour and it's in summer "Gallows" in town is good, faces south and N/E wind is offshore there if theres a bit of swell!

Yeah, heaps of Pussy pants who had bad nightmare's as young blokes when Jaws first came out. I guess they never got over it?
Cant blame them though, some people have a genuine phobia of being torn to shreds by a massive fish with hundreds of razor sharp teeth, mauling away at you whilst your still alive and feeling every bit of excruciating pain combined with the terror of knowing there's no way on earth you'll survive the horrific attack and die an agonizing death,... damn scary stuff.
I completely understand why people would want their greatest fear removed from the ocean, don't agree with it, but absolutely understand.
Then having a different point of view to those that are terrified often see's you being labeled a Greenie or a Shark Hugger, guess that's coming
There would be less car accidents if people stopped thinking about sharks while driving
Make the oceans safer and the roads will follow

Good point LL. Stop sharks texting while driving as well.

they are thinking about sharks because they are on drugs.
just think about the drugs not the sharks the sharks are on drugs
or the people thinking of sharks on drugs thinking of people on drugs
thinking of drugs or sharks doing drugs driving then sharks
drugged driving drrugged.
I make no secret of the fact that I'm not a fan of this type of interaction with sharks, especially when the sole motive appears to be commercial gain, often under the guise of concern for the environment.

I believe sharks could drive better than many of the backpackers in their vans

That's what I'm liking about the region, seems to be a few options in differing winds and swell and a few places close enough to a descent break the kids can walk or ride to for before and after school surfs. We'll head off as a clan and check it out and see what gels with everyone.
For anyone in the Lennox area this may be of some interest..
