Yeah I reckon!!, it was almost as good early this morning too...
Some funny comments in there, gee surfers are a funny mob
Can not believe that vid. So bloody perfect. Makes you wonder why that first guy did not take one more stroke. Lots of people abusing him on line. I liked this response from another punter who was out there
I was out there and the guys that tried were dropping over the falls like flies, its was breaking from deep water onto a waist deep sandbank, some of the waves were just too fast and sucky to drop into, believe me after taking 2 or 3 beatings in a row you tend to be a bit more cautious, that said some guys did get well pitted! im sure the photos will start popping up soon
Just saw a good clip on Swellnet featuring Tamarin Bay in Mauritius. That looked pretty good
Very seasonal - was dead flat for the six days we were there in Oct 2007... I mean snorkelling flat!
last year for a bit the banks at cooly were deadly.
mac will remember.
breaking onto mid shin water max. I even heard of guys getting boogie board mid week just so they could drop in.
wasnt big but man I ate **** on so many take offs. everyone did.
but I also got a very memorable barrel.
any one of average ability bagging those guys on that wave are kidding themselves
Ted,Matts vid has been uploaded by swellnet, read some of the comments
I was out wide on my sup and had a birds eye view of some epic cover!!...a few pretenders on short boards that were sitting even wider in the channel than me where carrying on laughing at each guy that didn't make it .........kudos to all that attempted the set waves!!
Looks better in the photos...http://www.swellnet.com/news/swellnet-dispatch/2016/01/26/victor-scraps-video
Winki 6'+.
Bells big.
Both are more a worry being competitive with the crowds than physically handling the wave.
And used to dream about Easter Reef but I fear that may be passed me.
You'll be right at both...plenty of waves coming through at that size..take a big fast board
Skeleton Bay - Namibia
Treasure Island - (Next year hopefully)
Chicima
...plus a couple of others that I wont name here
Chicama is a long wave but pretty fat and gutless there are better and nearly as long waves to the north of there that are much better.check out the left in the current issue of surfers journal west Africa

A guy I work with has surfed it and loved it. Had to wait a week for it to break though.
Tasmania Points, Sri Lanka and remote Vancouver island in Canada.
I have this weird romanticism with cold water locations at the moment. A super secluded cabin in the woods on a snow covered beach with perfect empty right peelers... Weirdly sounds like a good time.. No one around for miles, surfing for as long as possible then relaxing in front of the fire!
You should check this fellas pics out. Often in cold water destinations

Maybe add this to your winter destination list

I met a guy in July this year who was just about to leave after a nine month stint.
He was still there in October.
Funnily enough he had his lineups and takeoffs absolutely dialled. After 30 trips up there over the years I like to think I have half an idea, but this bloke had a telepathic link on where to sit. He didn't like it super solid, but was an excellent example of what you are talking about.

Take you shark shield or whatever you feel will make you safe
1. went surfing in Durban mate and teh missus cam down to watch after I'd been out for a couple of hours and started frantically waving me in. Bloke 50 yards down teh rip was pulling 6 foot bullies out of the rip
2. Coffee bay...spooky as ****,...with good reason 2 days after we left a guy got chowed
3. Plettenburg Bay surfed a sweet wedgy right in front of the boat ramp....on the other side of the boat ramp was a rock groyne...on the other side of the rock groyne is where they took the shark cage diving tours to see the numerous 20ft whites that lived there
4. Crayfish Factory in Cape Town...surfing away with a few other local guys when they all got out I surtfed a bit more and did the same...looked back to the lineup and see a big shadow crusing through
....yeah its pretty sharky
Definitely Caloundra. Apparently when the bigger sets came through most were hopefully outta position. Also heard Julian Wilson made an appearance on another spectacular day compliments of Victor.

The olds just came back from doing a lap round the Indian Ocean in a cruise ship. They said Durban was the highlight of their trip. They don't look at it from a surfing persective though...Interesting though, since they'd stopped in a lot of places I imagined would have been better. Like the Ments.
Mate & I camped at Cactus for almost 2 months back in the 90's & then some poor bloke got eaten not long after just passing through with his missus. I got a talking too one day after paddling from the main break across to Caves. Locals said it was a breeding ground, paddling across is a no-no.
Sri Lanka is a great place for a holiday. You can easily take the wife as well - she will love it. Lovely people, amazing country and incredible food. Waves are not Indo standard (but what is ) but they are a hell of a lot of fun. Joy all round. Can get a bit busy around that spot you like the look of. Lots of places to explore though.
I have always fancied Pavones in CR. Sorry about the footage - you either got this fella or Robbie Naish on a 666 ! I thought this would be more your fellas style
Simondo has been here.
