Hi all - just need to pick ya brains.
I need recommendations/contacts please, regarding good accommodation in Byron Bay. Looking at a week long stay in late Feb' or early March. Something semi self contained would be a preference and under $200 per night.
I know the town well, but I could never afford to stay there, so have very little idea about holiday accom'. (some would say I just have very little idea)
And - no !! I am not bringing a sup - just the missus and will be hiring a mal' when I get there
Hi Bill I read your a hit in Tassup
Byron Clarkes Beach Caravan Park, book a cabin.Has all you need and more not sure on the price tho.
McT are no longer hiring boards to interstate folks
This is a good friend of mines place....its lovely. I stay there often and love it. He is doing some reno's at the moment so he has some pretty fair priced rooms if you give them a call. There are other rooms that are well away from the work as well if you want it. Its 2 mins to the main street and 3 to the beach. Its a beautiful spot to take your chick.

We stayed in clarkes beach caravan park about 5 years ago . Sorry Mac but we thought it was a **** hole . People staying on top of us , toilets were grubby , they were building more cottages so the place was a construction site starting at about 7 a.m . Like I say this was about 5 years ago so maybe the place has improved .
We booked 3 nights , one was enough so packed next day and moved to another caravan park just south of Byon , much nicer place .
Pricks refused to refund our money so won't be going back
Park is situated In a great spot though .
We have camped all over the east coast of Australia and all over Tassie only a couple of places we have moved on from
Its all good now Tas,I booked a cabin for three nights could only stay two,on arrival the cabin was not cleaned from the last guest so I mentioned it on my way for a coffee,10 minutes later the manger called me apologising and refunded the night I couldn't stay, how good was that
Wife & I stay in starfish cabin at First Sun overlooking the Wreck. There are 4 cabins which are located at far end of park with large grassy section in front.
6 weeks ago it was $230 a night however we parked the car and walked / rode everywhere.
Amazing spot with good clean facilities - just a bit pricey.
Theres a reall good place...you drive right through Byron until you can't see it and stop at a place called Lennox...
Before Strop built his pub the old besser block Surfside Hotel had free/ fall down accommodation in the car park on Friday nights.. ah the good ol days
Got onto a great deal in an apartment close to town - all sorted. (well, a great deal for Byron anyway)
Thanks guys.
G'day Simondo, have you stayed in that place on Yamba Rd? seems pretty pricy for where it is, even with the big M logo on it. I think if surfing was one of your major priorities in a holiday you could do a lot better in town for a lot less $ through the local real estates. Then again people will pay stupid money for cred by association.
All the best nev
