fixing the neighbours board for him. Purchased this Don Burford stringerless off ebay for 99$ !
amazing board at 8'10 is quite rare for a V bottom stringerless, super pinched rails and quite wide, i think 23 1/2 if i remember correctly. The board sat in the roof of a surf club for years and has some nasty delam on the bottom, the fin was smashed in half also so i have to knock that out. Upon getting the fin out i discovered what i thought was delam around the fin was actually a nasty split in the foam from years of the fin flexing in turns etc it seems it has split the foam about 6 inches either side of the fin.
i managed to wedge open the split and get a fair amount of resin into the area and it has set perfect and am super happy with it. I then filled in the groove from the original fin with chopped up fiberglass and resin making it super strong. I had a plastic machine fin made up to glass in.
will be fixing the delam thats further up from the fin box this weekend then hopefully glassing in the fin. Will keep updates posted in here
the nose had some fiberglass thrown over it that was overkill, the person who did it didnt sand the board so it basically fell of once the sander hit it, i was expecting a massive nose smash but was 5c peice size ding.
Wizz's most loaded colour, solid black,he has a panel in stock so materials are not the issue
7 inch loose but lost drive,8 inch more drive but down on performance so 7 1/2 will be perfect.
same reason I've ordered a 9 1/2.
Yeah..I like flex
Of all the boards I've had..never had a Vee Bottom, always thought the fins were too far forward to make them turn easy.
You have some sanding to do I think Wiz cut me a 7 instead of the 7.5,the 9 worked a treat in the Pin' today.
I've never had much joy using the tape method of holding a glass on fin in place while it set so I changed to a clamping method, but I'm buggered if I can find a picture on the net of how it's done.
I may try to set up a mockup of it tonight to show you what I mean.
All sanded. Ended up making a bridge for the legrope out of the fin i pulled out. Final coat, wet and dry, in the water tomz
