Great bunch of boards you have there. Must be a bit of a dilema choosing what to ride. I really like that egg and the CI gun looks really nice.

It's actually not that hard to decide. You always have your current favorites, or current projects (toying with fins in 1 board).

But the decisions are easy;
- small waves, grab a malibu, any of them really, and there are spares to mix it up, keep it fun
- medium waves, depending on the style of waves, select from the shortboards, fun boards, and mid-length performance boards, depending on how you are felling.
- big waves, choose from the guns.
- really big waves, Merrick Gun.

I could easily sell 3 or 5, but I still like them enough to not sell.
(my wife used to earn quite respectable money, and there isn't too much wrong with my earning capacity.... sure there is roughly $15k of boards there, but compare that to what we all spend on home repayments, interest, rent, food, petrol, car depreciation, beer, kids, family, mistresses, tax, etc,... well $15k represents only a small portion of that!).

Here's some pics of a nice 6'6 single. The fin is so nice, it is on loan in another of my boards at the moment. An 8" True Ames fin, in Green.

Some of the pics from the tail, try and show the relatively heavy double concave at the tail.

Hey guys, some nice boards !

Simondo, that 9'0 Gun looks the goods.....wow. I'm chasing a gun right now.

Thought I'd share my current quiver. A mix of SUP and Surfboards of which I've been selling off some some SUP's and the DC 16 and 12' Laird are still on 'breeze for sale leaving me with 4 SUP's......which I might still sell the Naish 17'.

I'm very much tuned into epoxy now (shock horror to some) but they work, are light, easy on the back leg on hold downs and easy to repair and have better re-sale than poly IMO.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/surfanimals/sets/72157594509051959/

Rather than clog everything up, here's a link above to the boards consisting of;

Naish 'Nalu' SUP
11'6 x 29 3/4 x 5 1/2

Pearson Arrow 'Laird' SUP
14' x 30 5/8 x 5 1/4

Naish 'Glide' SUP
17' x 26 3/4 x 5 3/4

Surftech Ron House 'Laird' SUP
12'1 x 31

Dale Chapman 'DC' Carbon SUP
16' x 28

Angulo 'Shaka' SUP
14' x 30' x 5 1/2

NSP 'Cruiser' Longboard
11'0 x 25 3/4 x 4 1/16

Walden 'Magic Model' Longboard
10'0 x 23 1/2 x 3 1/4

7S 'Super Fish XL'
8'0 x 23 1/8 x 3 1/4

Al Merrick 'M13' Semi Gun
8'0 x 22 x 2 7/8

.....and the hundreds that have come and gone over the years dating back to about 1992.

www.flickr.com/photos/surfanimals/sets/72157594578541701/

It's always changing and there's not many I haven't owned at some point.

I hear ya'. Nor was I until not long ago.

Flat water Sup is fun. No place in the surf IMO.

I doubt you'd see a wider variety of longboards then what's in my old board archive though.

Sups slowly going.

Next in my agenda is an 8'6 Carver, 9'0 MC Big Guy Gun and a 9'6 Redine or 66 to compliment the 4 'surf' boards I've got now.

Just made good friends with a couple of my new boards finally dialing them in.
It was max two foot high tide the Redline was the first board out of the cover.
Man I listened to asea and this baby loves to trim down the line at speed.I also
had the thing moving up and down the face. For those that don't know I have struggled to ride this beast for a while now but today it all clicked,The problem was I had to change my mind set,you ride it a lot differently than a HP which was my problem.I had a great time on it today.

As to tide dropped the Fireball gets wet and I must say it went very well in some sucky little sliders.

Yep happy as pig in mad Bring on the new UFO [}:)]

Extremely happy for you Mac!! Always great to have a successful and productive surf! And I'm really looking forward to getting that McT.

Today, I had a "Slop Bash" (definitions include: SUP Paddling into 15+ knots of wind, and sliding home on some runners) this afternoon on the big 17 footer (SUP). The great thing was that 20 knots combined with a decent 2m+ ground swell, out of similar direction.... so I was screaming along at times on the return leg.

Here's a little (board) porn again.

Chris,
How many boards do think you have owned?
What did you do with the snapped ones?
I snapped a McT Original after years of good abuse. Paid $250 for a semi dodge repair (rejoin) and now I just want to sell it for $250.

Without counting them all I'd say over 300.....there's around 1800 photos there and I usually take around 6 to 8 shots of each one but the pre digital ones I only scanned one or two shots of each so 300 to 400 is a safe bet.

The snapped ones.....I've still got them, just have them piled in a corner as each snap has it's own little story that I still get either shivers or chuckles from ....there's 7 snapped in total.

Best boards owned would be McTavish Redline 9'6 which was Bob's own board in 2006, a 7'11 McCoy semi gun, and 8'4 Cundith Semi Gun owned by Andy Mac, the 2008 GSI poly 9'6 Fireball and the 10' Surftech Bear Waikiki Special......all regretful sales !

I'm looking at getting one of Cundith's 9'0 Big Guy Gun's this week with luck.

Mate the best thing about today was,its p-ssing down and very small which keeps the blow'ins home. But I knew I could find a wave small as it was.

Funny thing is I am still buzzing from an awesome day

I hear you Mac! Some of my best surfs have been 1 foot days. Everyone stays at home.... But if you know your spots, and tides, you can get lucky with some thigh high sets, and really long rides.... Leaves you buzzing for small waves !

I tell you, long perfect, and uncrowded waves leave me very happy these days. Flip side of that coin... when it's too big for some of the crew, and I paddle out on the 9'0 Merrick Gun, and drop into a couple of bombs.... that's a different sort of reward.

Happy Days !!

The after thoughts.... (typical)

Small Long Waves - soooo much fun
Extra Large Waves - glad I survived, and managed to pick off two or three bombs....

Wave count per typical session would often be 15:3, in favour of the small days....

McTavish G2 Gun
8'6 x 21+ x 3. A weapon for hunting down big lumps of water!

CMC from here sent me those blue FCS GXQ fins. It came with Black GXQ's which are being utilised in the yellow McTavish. I used the bigger Carbon Merrick's today. They went great too. I think the smaller fin is the go though. It releases slightly better, going rail to rail. You draw out your turns off the rails... But you can draw quite tight snappy turns, especially with the smaller fins that release quickly. The reasonable amount of tail rocker allows for the tighter turns. Rock back onto the rounded pin "v", and it turns really well for its size!

An open face machine. By the way, this is not for sale! You can order them through McT in Byron. 02 6685 6736

(SurfAnimals - beats the hell out of me why you would move so many boards on.... you must have only ridden some of them a few times, and some of them not at all!?)
