Thought this might be a good idea for a thread. You guys can judge.
Main aim - encourage Simondo & Ted and others, to post photos!
I'm shooting on a $150 Cannon "Thing", and Ted is shooting on equipment that is roughly 8 times dearer and 4 times better.
I could argue that I get the opportunity for better content, but Ted's gear will take a better photo... George Greenough always said that you can have an average "quality" photo with unique content, and it can be priceless.
(don't get me started on GoPro including Hero cameras and footage capturing devices)
Nice shot Simondo - those waves look bloody delicious - I am so coming down to visit you soon so look out.
Nice ted, what gear you shooting with?
Simondo, not a competition, but excellent shots from different genre's
They were shot with a Canon 60D with a pretty standard 18-200mm lens on. No post production either.....morning light rocks. I am pretty sure this is not a comp but a forum for everyone to stick there shots into I am a hoping
Nice pics guys, here's one of my fave pics from this year. Taken with a Lumix FZ150
It was interesting to check file sizes for Ted & Simondo's pics. Of the pics I right clicked & saved to desktop to check filesize. Simondo's were 3 to 4 times the filesize, about 160kb compared to 40-60kb for Ted's first shots. Pics may well have been taken with a 6 x more pricey cam, but the photo resize makes it pointless to compare until later when you really notice the resolution crank up for his later nice shot of the jetty....My pic was about 800kb & it was resized automatically to about 160kb by the forum.
This one is 270kb taken with my phone, resized by the forum to 89kb
^^^Its awesome when your hobby can find a way of paying for itself or at least contributing some $ towards it. Congratz mate...& that was cool of you to send the shots to the couple. Good idea on the watermark & file resizing
I was invited to the youtube partner program for my first channel 5 years ago & have done the same thing. Spent all the money I've received on upgrading my camera. The fact I have an FZ150 instead of a GH1 is indicative of my earnings lol
That beach shot is from down around Albany, the ocean & its surrounding lands are pretty spectacular. I'd recommend anyone visiting WA to do between Dunsborough & Esperence. The Victorian Coast Between Bells & I don't know, say..Bay of Islands is kinda similar in its awesomeness. An amazing part of the world for ocean lovers
nice work Dr Funk - what are you using? You should have a look at Clarke Little (brother of Brock) - he does some amazing shorebreak photography.
