Evening all - I turned 59 today.
Feels just like 58 but with 6 more Coopers Sparkling on board.
Happy birthday to NOZ!
Whoops I'm sounding like the Dali Chrispy and talking about myself in the third person..............
Happy birthday, Nozza. Thanks for your eclectic and always interesting contributions to the forum.

Are you still on the island & is that Phillip Island, been meaning to ask you
Still on the Island called Phillip.
Will be here more and more as work wanders off i to the distance
Nice, hope your getting a few waves!
Plenty of waves there,it's just that cold. You'd need some serious froth to be a surfer at the island, or you love the cold.

Lived in Apollo Bay for 2 years after living in Margaret river for 5. Not a big fan of the cold but also not too susceptible to it either. I've never owned a 4/3 wettie
Phillip island was my next stop in 1998 after leaving Apollo Bay & visiting my uncle in Melbourne. Had to bail back to WA quick coz my gran passed away. Keen to visit next time & catch up with my uncle who now lives in Echuca retired from his riverboat tourist operation.

I don't want to go outside, much less in the water.

In Melbourne for a couple of days, Helmy around for beer and bullsit and t bone steaks by the pool.
Officially drug free today - no more antidrepressants etc, got the OK from the psychiatrist and all.
Well almost drug free - Coopers still features.
Feeling good.

Evening from The Island.
Trying to rain here - wish it would.
Typical Vicco day with predicted 30 knot northerlies and 40 degree temperatures.
Neither of which happened despite ABC news headlines of "It's Summer, there is going to be a hot day" "Run for your lives"
Whoops, sounding like my father.....
Evening............
Evening all.... was clicking around the net looking for a funny pic to use in response to one of MangoDingo's great posts and I stumbled upon this fine chap's Facebook page. Yeah, a fair bit of Captain Goodvibes, but heaps and heaps of great pics of surfing and beach culture over the past few decades. Well worth a browse! (So, yeah, I skipped the funny ones and went trippin' down memory lane...)

Evening Nozz and everyone
Greeney - such great pics man.
Matahi Drollet - seems like years since he was everywhere - especially charging Tahiti.
And the shot of MP , bah chrast- makes you wanna weep into yr cuppa.
Here's an old GASH ad from Tracks when it was printed on A3 newspaper and cost a couple of bob and there was always a pile of 'em next to the dunny (just in case).
It's a real early design compared to the later work by Simon Buttonshaw (and used by Greg Brown on his boards).
c. 1989.
I'm up for the dawny tomorrow - heaps of swell pushing through at the mo' and I'm as frothy as hot can of VB that's been left in the sun.
Gash....
I've got the t shirt
Mate in Torquay sends them to me.....
I'm searching but I don't deserve to.......

Back on the Island, Melbourne summer seems to be over
I take that as a positive, less people, more swell
Well, if we can't go to Indo, we can still eat their tucker.
Knocked up some Indo chicken Soto Betawi soup. Sweet, salty, coconut, fish sauce, fresh limes and tomatoes-
plus I got waves today - 3 foot and westerly Kona wind but managed to snag a few orright ones.
All washed down with a copy of the latest Pacific Longboarder.
Im stuffed, but as Les Norton would say, you wouldn't be dead for quids.
Yeah, it's funny Nozz. I've been digging this tune that Greeney posted a few weeks back by (the late) Jerry Jeff Walker.
In the tune he says the greatest line , "successful men get what they want, happy men want, just what they got."
Geez it resonated with me eh - especially after splitting with the missus etc.
Keep life simple seems to be the best way forward I reckon.
And Jerry absolutely nailed it with this one.
Its an absolute belter (big ups to Greeney for posting it - cheers cob!)

haha nice pretty sure I've read every Robert G Barret book up until about 1997. My Faves "Davo's little Something" Not a Les Norton story but just epic from start to finish. Otherwise, "The Boys from Binjiwunyawunya" was awesome too & had pretty much all the Les Norton mob involved
Edit: Just checked there's one book I havn't read of his, "High Noon in Nimbin" I'll have to order it
Yeah for sure Mick - Robert Barrett yarns were all time!
I've even got a 'Day of the Gecko' t shirt somewhere.
Davo's little something - wasn't that a head spinner.
Kings Cross in the eighties must've been all kinds of weirdness goin on'.
Yep , Les Norton , the big boof head from Dirranbandi - always pulling a good sort, having a top feed, and making a good earn on the side - and how good was Grungle?!?
Legendary Ozoid literature - they won't write books like those anymore.

Good on you, Mango Dingo. Glad to hear you are getting waves up there in the NT (some good coming from the madness that is sweeping WA). Great looking dinner! How good is Jerry Jeff ... and how good is Pacific Longboarder! 12 pages of Fenna De King's fine work in the latest edition, i see (some good from the madness that regularly sweeps Noosa ) . She kills it on Insty, too....

Yep all epic...& after you mentioned it I had a look around & found I still have them all in good condition. Found a big pile of Phantom comics I bought around the same time as well living in Margaret river for 6 years without a telly
Can't find it - we had a wall size montage of Phantom comic covers in our Jungle Bar, maybe 1986.
A bit in the backgound of this one....
