Been catching this show on One now and again. It has some great stuff, really high production quality:
www.mysurf.tv/
Today had top notch segments on Harley Ingleby and on shaper Mitchell Rae. Both clips(and a lot more) are on the website.

Here's a link straight to the Rae piece:
www.mysurf.tv/categories/profiles/106-crafts-mitchell-rae

Crack a frothy and press play.

I have a Mitchell Rae sitting the shed - had it since end of Oct and still not found a wave to surf it on. One day soon I hope.

This one could go in the cricket thread as well but in the interests of supporting SP and his endeavours in here I encourage you to read this one

The legend strikes again

The male’s stronger interest in sexual novelty has long interested psychologists who refer to it as the Coolidge effect. The name comes from a story about US president Calvin Coolidge and his wife visiting a poultry farm. During the tour, Mrs Coolidge inquired how the farm managed to produce so many eggs with such a small number of roosters. The farmer proudly explained that his roosters performed their duty dozens of times each day. “Perhaps you could point that out to Mr Coolidge,” replied the first lady in a pointedly loud voice. The president, overhearing the remark, asked the farmer, “Does each rooster service the same hen each time?”“No,” replied the farmer, “there are many hens for each rooster.”“Perhaps you could point that out to Mrs Coolidge,” replied the president.

See I l do appreciate a good bit of 666 when its justified

Did you see Goatmans comments today - similar thoughts to you? I came by this thought of mind about 4 years ago. I still wish I had pursed a bit more 666 but in all honestly the freedom of a proper shortie just kills it over a 666. When used for their original thoughts they are great.

It's funny now I am back on short boards, that thing looks massive. Personally, I came to the conclusion that riding small under bouyant SUPs was harder work than paddling a short board without the performance benefits. I am lucky though that I don't have any shoulder issues that stop me paddling prone.

Each to their own and good luck to the dudes that are young and fit enough to ride them. I rode my wife's 10 footer (SUP) the other day in fat point surf that would have been hopeless for a SB and had a ball, so that will be my SUPing these days.

Yes, I agree. I think most of the guys persevering with very small SUPs have a windsurf rather than surf background because there gets a point as you say where you are better off paddling prone, and even the best SUP shortboarding is woeful in performance terms compared to shortboard surfing in decent waves. But where I live we don't get decent waves often, so a SUP makes a lot of sense. So for me, SUPs are most in their element for longboarding and crap or otherwise inaccessible waves, and the further you depart from that, the less advantage they have over prone surfing, up to the point where you are actually hobbling yourself by paddling out standing and holding a paddle.
