Far from the best bike, but on the enforced trip to Melbourne yesterday retrieved my neglected bike from my factory.
Got it out of the Kombi this afternoon.
Disgraceful condition, tyres totally flat, front mudguard broken off.
Gave it a clean up and a pump up.
Gave the other neglected toy a test run too.
But back to the Best Bike.
On a trip back from WA last year, me and a mate camped at Cape Arid.
Nothing there, brilliant.
You can do about 600k along the beach east of there, but getting bogged and stuck on particularly seaweed covered in sand a big issue.
But a trip we want to do. We went dirt up to Balledonia from Arid, but it felt like pulling out of it before the good bit.
You would want two or three cars, full recovery gear(which we didn't have, on our own in a Prado)
We decided an electric fat bike to ride ahead of the cars would be the go for the beach trip.
Searching "Electric Fat Bike" throws up lots of alternatives, but anyone know anything about them?
This trip would have been happening now or soon, so no hurry, but any ideas appreciated.
Or tell me I'm an idiot!
Hahaha everything is done only have to put the wheels seat and bars on and it's done,,, but ummmm little stuffed atm as I'm going tubeless waxing the chain and the bike didn't come with peddles I knew that and waiting on them. So few little things before I'm belting it out on the beach.
Yeah crazy skills
Actually the guy in the wheelchair is a legend and did crazy stuff on skinny tyres and curly handlebars
That same doctor I know who I mentioned seeing him going surfing weeks ago in the midst of the Covid-19 lockdowns was telling me that most of his patients in their middle age when it came to injuries were doing it on mountain bikes. Gnarly fractures, lungs punctured, stuffed up knees and other joints from falls. Ride on thrillseekers!
Has the fat bike fad come back like the yoyo?
They were a cool thing for a while here, and like a lot of cool **** on the goldy it quickly vanished.
There were so many around my way and then gooone . See one every now and then....in saying that we have some good bike ways and the beach ride is not really needed
They do look bad ass though
I have had my bike for a fair few years now and just had to have the back wheel respoked .
I have a quiver kaddy like tassie d and it is the bomb..i have had a few failures with board racks, and a couple that are great for one board
The qk lets me take three shorties, two mals or a mixture...that does not include all the crap i throw in the storage space.
I didn't like it on a mountain bike ,just a personal thing, but on the cruiser it so so good
The qk has been abused for most of it's life and is still going hard...not so pretty anymore, but still 100% usable
