Surfboard room in Scarbs used to stock them. I've been riding a few of muzz's boards for a while now and his boards are awesome, especially his quads. Just ring him via his website and order a custom because I can guarantee you won't be disappointed with his boards.

Yep favourite trick of mine as well. Also try and get similar sprays if you doing customs - keep them all white and plain and you never get into trouble

What's that saying.... Great minds...

Single colour works good, light blue has always been mine fave, you can even change length and they don't know......

What are you getting? I have had a few of his boards over the years. Its reasonable to say that I am a fan. Muzz normally saves his long passionite chats for the evening - be prepared as DJMWA said

Was that board only or fins?
I guess there's then freight and so forth. Have not ever had a board shipped. What happens if its damaged? Is damage common?

Not sure what size thats why i was wanting to chat to Muzz, might try call again today.

Would it be really wrong of me to tell my wife it has a built in shark shield

I have three Bourton boards and love them all!!

I have a 6'3" Batfish quad (the allrounder), a 6' Sexy fish quad (daily Perth board) and a 6'5" Fat Bullet quad (for better waves ie not in Perth lol). All have the same spray design as well

Best way to get one is email Murray and organise a custom - he really looks after you.

Hope this helps!

Dumb question that I've always wondered about. When you order a custom board based on an existing design, say a Bourton Silver Bullet, what makes it a custom? Just the choice of spray and the inclusion of 'made for…' on it or will they muck around with the dimensions, fin placement etc. as well? If it's the latter should it still be considered a Silver Bullet at the end of it? And if it's the former what's the value in getting it custom made?

^^^^good question. muzza will ask you about your current board, do you like how it paddles, general questions like that. then he will get you to measure the width off your board 12 inches down from the nose, same from the tail.....dadada but equals big difference. speak to the man himself, you will be pretty happy(will have the credit card out pretty quickly as well) i love my bourton silver bullet

Tbh I like rack boards, they genally have had alot of R & D put into them before they go on the rack so you know they are going to work.
I havnt had many customs recently as my first couple wernt that great. I had to get a custom when I ordered my channel bottom as that was a special request for a Indo trip.
If you want a spray or certain dims a custom is the way to go and they dont vary too much from the original, the outline and basic design will be the same

Doggie makes some good points - if you can find what you want in a stock board it's happy days....mine was a custom because i wanted a bit more volume than the stock board in that size. I wanted the silver bullet for a specific set of circumstances and wanted to keep the length as short as practical. You could argue that it's no longer a silver bullet - but the reality is that it's the same design but it's just been beefed up a little to compensate for my needs. The nose area has a little more volume but it still has the same plan shape, bottom contours, rail shape, fin configurations etc just has an extra 8 litres for me. Stoked with it.

Ted -the Batfish goes like the name suggests - very fast! But my current favourite is the Sexy Fish . . . I ride it 90% of the time but that could have something to do with surfing in Perth

Most shapers should vary the dimensions to suit both your style and level of expertise, where you plan to surf and what you want the board to do. At the very least they will make sure it has enough foam to float you and allow you to catch some waves.

Each of my Bourton boards went through multiple tweaks in the design stage till Murray and I were both happy. He explained what every change would do to the board and I think I ended up getting exactly what I want. Also, as I have had three boards from him, each one builds on the last even though they are different models, so that when I change boards it does not take too long to adapt.

Ted just searched everywhere and cant find the dimensions for your board.
I really want one of these now but cant get hold of the Murry to ask the questions i need.

The Fat Bullet for me. Although i do like the Silver bullet but my biggest issue is paddle fitness(laziness)

I have found a brand new 7' board in WA (Country WA) but i feel that is going to be a bit big for me. I like smaller and i really hope a 6'8" would be ideal

I'm 5'10"ish and about 100 kilos. 105 on a bad week Fighting weight of around 97 ish..

I will say i hate waiting for things once i make up my mind.

The boards with a name eg silver bullet etc will have the same basic outline and rocker, (per named board so to speak), when you customise it, it is basically changing width and thickness to suit yourself. so maybe a thinner or thicker "silver bullet" but basically same rocker and outline are consistent, to suit the surfer asking. Thats how i am lead to believe anyhoo.

And as magic has said here, it can take a few customs to get it right but once the "base" has been built your boards will only get better. find a good shaper and work with him, be prepared to order at least one or two boards before you get your magic carpet. From there they will keep tweaking to suit you and your own personal surfing will be the winner in the long run as long as you are honest!! (not to say that the first two will be crap just maybe not quite what you expect but still will be pretty good.)
