Hi,
I'm flying out to the Mentawaiis tomorrow...
Forecast is all-time.
Going with 9 mates on a charter boat.
Will let you know what it's like in 2 weeks time!
No I havnt been before, sounds like u mite need the op and panadole. Ive had a few good surfs down at scabs derrs ect admitably not big but some nice surfs..
But how cold is it here at the moment even lanno back beach yesterday was a bit chilly, waiting for 25deg water boardies and rashies
nice, 6`8 might be handy, some serious waves there by the looks , if u take more than 3 you`ll be forking out some rp though
^^ na just the three mate, struggling on the 6,8 atm dunno if its new and I just need to get used to it or needs bigger waves, dunno.. I think I need to weight the front of the board, eg lie a bit futher forward, it just seems to hold me in the lip for too long when paddling in. My 6,5 is a jet and the 6,8 isnt that much bigger??? Any advice thommo?
Hey Doggie, you work around Scabs yeh? Im off in 4 weeks now and started training last week. I bet if you have a 10 min jog in the sand or a swim b4 or after work every coupla days you'll notice a significent difference.
I know what your talkin about with the bigger boards. On my 6'7 paddling is definatly the key. I cant just spin around at the last minute and take a late drop like on my 6'3.
Focus on positioning , get a good "run up" and have the board at top paddle speed just b4 the wave starts to drain/pitch.
It takes a little longer to get the bigger board up to take off speed.
LAst thing you want is getting stuck in the lip, then over the falls and bouncing off razors .
Ahh what am I saying, youll be fine- you know what ur doin! Enjoy mate
hows the swell chart, mine looks similar to mt Everest....and i`m right down in the bottom bit,far can typical
mmm Rotto just went past 2.0m so you would be down Albany way?? If thats right its massive down their at the moment. thats far can big I tell ya 3.5m down that way! Mentawais is gonna be pumping if this keeps up
