I appreciate you added the 'observational service announcement' to your post. Unfortunately mainstream media does not do that (as far as I saw on bookface), so in the comments below people were saying how they were predicting the shark cull debate to flare up again and 'leave them alone, it's their home', etc. It's kinda ridiculous the amount of hype one shark can create when the media is genuinely just trying to tell people to get out the water and be otherwise cautious.

Don't get me started. There is a slim glimmer of hope here and there though...

Fun little session on a metro reefy early today, chilled small crew for the most part.

Watched the swell fade as the tide grew and the rent a crowd turned up, was good to have a wave with a bit of shape for a change, had a bit of a drought of late.

Surfed this morning with myself and at one point three others.. Small but fun little waves and was able to play with the fin position..

Nearly three hours and that was me done..

Got to LBB at 7:50am with no one out. Was very small at knee to occasional waist high. Wind picked up from the SSE and was nearly white-capping, with rips moving up and down the beach constantly... I did not get a half-decent wave in the 2.5hrs I was out there. 1.5/10 (only because the water was warm).

Happy New Year - let's hope 2017 is better than 2016 for us metro weekend warriors!

Was that today

Just surfed small waves locally for a few hours and had a ball..Managed to run straight into a reef, lost a fin, then found it a few minutes later

Sorry to hear that GPA, but I managed to score a few rippers too. That was my plan for tomorrow though... Serious reconsideration required me thinks.

Went to Trigg with the longboard about 7:45am and could not be bothered with the (straight) micro surf and mega crowd. I opted to come home and wash the car!

Did you do the drive to LBB? Wind may have been a little better, more from the E, but the swell charts showed a drop in already small swell??

I'd be kind of happy with 3.5 right now!!

Yeah was shoulder high to begin with but down to the occasional gut high. Wind is persistantly O/S but not too strong. Plenty of peeps enjoying the condtions.
